Our local council is fighting with ‘itself’ as to whether some Jacaranda trees in one of our city parks should be cut down or not. Part of the way through an attempted trim today a distraught council member called a halt to production siting Environmental Protection. The city is now paying for some specialist consultant who has been called in to “investigate” as to whether these trees can be saved.

Can someone call in the Deen brothers please to take care of this problem?

I love a Jacaranda tree as much as the next bloke but come on council cut the trees that need cutting and plant new ones. Just for future reference Council, trees grow, so eventually we will have new ones to take their place. Let go of your Tockley’s council and make a decision!

The council has another problem; the time on the city hall clock is incorrect. Luckily they were able to secure the services of a high end consulting agency to confirm what the time was so the clock can be adjusted. Success!

Bundy Airport
The airport runway in Bundaberg needs to be torn up. Apparently some schmoo has remembered that they buried some bombs under the runway at the end of WWII. I personally believe the runway should be left alone. I would prefer we all enjoy the new golden casket game called “Landing Lotto”. Its $2.00 per entry, but if you can correctly predict the date a plane lands on the runway and triggers one of these bombs to explode you will win three million dollars.

India to beat a sooking Australian side in Friday nights Twenty20 game. At $2.75 it’s the best value I can see on the books this weekend.

The Super Bowl
At $4.50 the NY Giants are extremely long odds to win on Monday but I have a funny feeling the Giants may be able to pull out a staggering upset. I will be having a sneaky little bet on them anyway.

The Lightening Stakes – Group 1
It’s a dirty rotten favourite ($1.90) but I think Gold Edition will win the Lightening Stakes this Saturday. A top field but the golden mare should be too good for them all first up.
