Idiot Speak

Published by SJ under General

There are some management sayings I can’t stand. Some of them being.

At the end of the day.

We will look into it. (What is it, a freakin mirror?)

The squeaky hinge gets the oil. (In my house we replace the niff)

This is a win win situation. (code for I win and you still have a job)

Don’t come to me with problems come to me with solutions. (how bout I come at you with a right hook Riddler)

The latest is….

I don’t want to have to micro manage everything you do.

Wow, these manager show ponies are finding more and more ways to get out of doing any work whatsoever. I used to think that you had to go to university to become this stupid but I see you can achieve these qualifications now by listening to the comments of previous management. The circle of circus’s continue..

Instead of micro managing us why don’t you just give us a rough outline of what you want done instead of hoping we will use our Sherlock Holmes investigative skills to deduct our way to your constantly moving target.

What annoys me is I don’t have my own little sayings to get out of work. Can you guys suggest any to me?

He’s getting to me

Published by SJ under General

I love my Rugby League. Yes call me a dirty rotten bevan all you like but I love it. I was bought up in an AFL household and I am proud to say that we ended up a League household. Over the years the superior game became apparent and was made the staple television diet during winter, especially at origin time.

I have a few concerns about the NRL at the moment, the softness in head high tackle penalties, the lack of the occasional biff but the biggest threat is a man, a man called Phil Gould. As a commentator talking about the game in general I can live with him, I even sometimes enjoy his insight but he is starting to wear thin in one area.

His over the top whinging!!!!

The video referee should be banned.
The video referee does not understand the game
It takes to long to make a decision.
There are to many delays in the play
The referee should take control of the game himself
The referee’s don’t understand what a shepard is
That wasn’t a knock on
That wasn’t a head high
That wasn’t a forward pass

Sure there is reason to have a whinge sometimes and I am not saying that any of the above are not legitimate gripes but dude….. drop it back a notch. You will get a title role on this blog if you continue down the sookin path.

Teaspoon of concrete Gouldy and shut the F…. up!

5 years

Published by SJ under General

We recently passed the five-year anniversary for the illegal invasion of a foreign country. George Bush stood up in front of the world and told us he still believes it was the right thing to do and that the military action should continue.

For the first time about this particular subject I agree with President Bush.

At the time of the invasion 63% (for the sake of the argument lets call this 2/3’s) of Americans believed we should invade this country and a lot of my friends agreed with this. Come to think of it, I am struggling to remember anyone I spoke to about this subject at the time who didn’t believe that an invasion was the right thing to do.

As of now, 2/3’s of the people think that we should pull out of this war.

This unsettles me because 1/3 of these fair weather war supporters are happy now to admit that they were incorrect in their original thoughts and that yes, we should pull out of the country and subscribe the people of Iraq to a civil war for the next heaven knows how many years.

It disappoints me that a person can have an opinion about something as important as the invasion of a foreign country under the masquerade of weapons of mass destruction and then change their minds when things start getting a bit tough.

At least the other third of the people who still support the war stand by their opinion and will be happy to send their brothers, sisters or children to fight.

Sooksy Singo

Published by SJ under General

You ok John? You ok mate?

What a whinging sooksy la la. He isn’t happy with the way his Magic Millions sales and race set up is situated on the Gold Coast so he is threatening to take his millions of dollars, horses, hot hookers and bat & ball home.

Luckily he is all talk and just wants the Qld Government to hurry up and make a move on some of the well developed plans for the Gold Coast racing complex. As long as it pays its way I can only agree Singo’s tears. The racing industry is a pretty big cash cow for our state government and it’s about time some money these returns were reinvested on upgrading the facilities at some of Qld’s race tracks.

I mean, when was the last time you tried to by a place a bet then take a piss and on your way back buy a beer from the bar on Stradbroke day. You had better start of three races ahead of time or by the time you get back you will have missed it.

For Magic Millions day I like

‘Black Minx’ in the 2YO Classic

‘Cent Per Cent’ in the 3YO Plate

‘Hard to Catch’ in the Magic Millions Cup

And

‘Valedictum’ in the Victoria Handicap (Probably the place but I have a feeling here)

Investment Options

Published by SJ under General

Ok, I have been asked by lot readers lately about the share market drop and what to do. Here is an overview of my position and a few ideas I want to bounce off you.

The market has taken a tumble but I have not lost (on paper) anything to this point. The total sum of everything invested is still above the total sum paid for the investments. Please remember this is mainly due to a long term investment strategy. I haven’t sold out in previous panicks / drops and not this one.

Looking at it from a yearly return point this year isn’t panning out to well so far but I am of the opinion you take the bad with the good….. and now is the good if you take a certain perspective.

Now is the time to buy is it not? Unless you think the market is going to go much lower or you think it is never going to come back.

I think the market may go lower (I don’t know) but I am pretty confident it will be back and higher than it was some point down the road.

Being that it may be a good time to buy, I would like you to have a think about things and let me know if any companies come to mind that may be suitable for purchase at the moment.

We need to ask ourselves the below 5 initial questions to determine the type of company we may be interested in owning. If the company/s pass these first few questions we can proceed to further investigations.

Think of some brands / products or service that you use. Products that you prefer to purchase above all others and may have the following….

1. Does the company have an identifiable consumer monopoly?

2. If there is a consumer monopoly what chance is it that it may be obsolete in 10 years?

3. Do we understand how the company works it works? Ie is it straight forward or all confusing

4. Is the company conservatively financed? Ie. It carries low debt

5. Does the company employ hot receptionists?

Throw some names out to me and if they meet the above criteria we can work through the next step and carry out some valuations to see if they are suitable for purchase.

Lets work together to create our own ‘Woodstock for Capitalists’.

So you think you can jig

Published by SJ under General

A more boring TV show I cannot imagine.

I must admit a hatred to ‘dance’ due to years of forced viewing by proxy of a jazz ballet competing sister. Jazz ballet is the most boring of the worlds sports….. in my humble opinion of course. Lawn bowls out ranks it in all facets not least of which skill.

I had not watched ‘So you think you can dance’ due to the fear of it being full of desperate people, dancing a jig and hoping that it will somehow impress us. After consultation from a friend I was assured the show was much more than this.

I listened to this friend and under the “don’t knock it until you have tried it” banner I bravely watched SYTYCD. Unfortunately all that resulted is I now have a deep-seated concern that my friend is indeed a closet homosexual! Not that there is anything wrong with that of course.

I don’t understand dancing like a maniac. I don’t see what purpose it serves and it does not inspire me personally whatsoever. A person who can move there body in time with the music and jig around like some sort of detoxing drugo on red cordial is as far as I am concerned a waste of radio waves. Channel 10 would be best served to bring back re-runs of Seinfeld and if possible Ned & Stacey. Two quality shows that have not yet, had their time.

I enjoy music in most forms, I enjoy art in terms of paintings and sculpture. I wouldn’t call myself a cultured person but I know enough about it to know that dance is the of know interest to me.

‘So you think you can dance’ is the worst example of entertainment since ‘Extreme Makeover’. Then again I haven’t seen the new liar liar pants on fire show ‘Moment of Truth’ yet so maybe SYTYCD can be moved to second on my most hated list. The only redeeming feature of this show is the smoking host, Natalie Brassingexchickoffneighbours.

16 leg flop

Published by SJ under General

Well I proved somewhat average with my weekend predictions and this weeks 16 leg million dollar all up challenge (now SLMDAUC for short) is destined for the scrap heap.

South Sydney are crap! The Roosters dominated them like a Shirvy dominates a cheeseburger!

My other “tips” were average as well, if you had taken the place on ‘Like it Is’ and ‘Lucky Diva’ you would be in front. However ‘Valedictum’ was a tad disappointing.

We managed to kick back with a sneaky $5 all up bet on the Broncos into Wests into Lewis Hamilton to win yesterday. If I kick in another dollar we have $16 to start the next SLMDAUC this weekend.

Lets hope this weeks bets fair a little better.
