I was shocked and disgusted at the actions of Brent Staker in the Sydney – West Coast game on the weekend. The veracity in which he head butted Barry Halls fist is something that will stay with me for a long time. He head butted it so hard poor old Barry broke his wrist and will be out of action for up to 8 weeks.

But here we go again; every soft on with a heartbeat is having a whinge.

“I don’t want my kids involved in a game where that sort of behaviour is viewed as ok”

Bad news sweetheart, best pack up your house, wife and family and move yourself out to Amish country. Yes you heard me right time to move to Gympie!

Sure, it probably wasn’t the best thing to see Staker break Barry’s hand so blatantly but little Johny & Jill are exposed too much the same sort of violence once or twice a month at school. Usually no bones are broken but fights in the school yard are very common. For some sparrow hearted parent to try and tell me that they will not let their kids play a sport, where there is probably triple the supervision compared to the school yard, is just plain stupid.

It may even be a good thing that some of these young and impressionable young people see the results of what a head butt to the knuckles can do. The results of these actions are quite only ever found out the hard way.

The occasional knuckle in my opinion is ok but it should be frowned upon to limit its occurrence. What so you think, should Brent be wiped out indefinitely or should he be reprimanded, given 6 weeks to think about it and that’s the end of it?
