You ok power sellers?

After one purchase I am ready to claim 9th Dan black belt in ebay.

It seems Ebay have decided to try and monopolise there payment arm Pay Pal. As an existing pay pal user this does not worry me at all but a gajillion ebay sellers are a little upset. Who would have thought that trinket makers and dogey toy sellers could get so upset? Realistically they don’t have a leg to stand on, Ebay own the shop and the shop decide how the customers pays.

I was actually thinking to myself that I didn’t fully understand how Ebay makes money but that is not how a 9th Dan black belt thinks. I did some checking and found that Ebay are able to charge a small fee for each sale typically in the 0.4% area. Not bad, but you are gonna have to sell a shite load of teddy bears to make any money. With their decision to limit purchases to selected systems (mainly pay pal) they are making a decisive move for the payment facilitator business where they can earn 2 – 3% on each transaction.

Seems fair enough to me but hey what would I know. What are your thoughts here? Should ebay be able to increase their earning potential or should the ACCC lay a couple of body blows into them and leave them gasping for a vegemite sandwich?
