NSW to beat QLD

Published by SJ under General

As much as it cruels me to say I am going to put my money on NSW in the first origin game. I just think its all against Queensland here and I just cant pass up the $2.20 being offered about the Blues. I have had $16 dollars at the $2.20 for a return of $35.20.

My concerns for Qld are that they have a horrendous record at ANZ stadium, Hunt isn’t a five-eighth and he is suspect in this role, it is going to be slippery which non of the Qld teams have trained much in this year and I think the Blues bench is just much better than Qld’s. In a game like Origin the bench can make a huge difference.

The talk is Qld will steam roll them but I personally don’t know if this will happen. My money is on NSW for financial reasons but my heart will always lie with Qld.

Where is your money going on this game?

2008 Autumn Carnival Stables Results

Published by SJ under General

The results are in for the 2008 Autumn Carnival Stables competition. Please find the results in order of our stable group and overall results as follows.

Tunksy put in a massive effort and got into the prize money for us. I assume he hasn’t told any of us that he made a return because he has decided to keep the money for himself.

Tunksy’s 21st position gets us a $170.00 pool to play with. Any suggestions on how it should be invested??

Good work Tunksy!!

A special mention to Max who was disappointing after showing early promise with his stable picks of Cinque Cento, Dr Nipandtuck and the sensational Moonboat.

And Bonke, last carnivals huge returnee came back to earth with a thud….. Just couldn’t get out of the barrier. I suspect he has something up his sleeve for the spring because as far as I am concerned Bonke will be there abouts when the whips are cracking!

The Simpson Dilemma

Published by SJ under General

From what I remember at school John Simpson was a solider, who, at Gallipoli, took his donkey out on a daily basis and picked up wounded combatants and returned them to friendly lines for further medical attention. My memory of the story is that he did this for quite a period without thought or concern for his own safety in the face of the enemy. That’s what I remember being taught at school.

Now I read that John Simpson Kirkpatrick will not be awarded a Victoria Cross because certain politicians have made new rules to preclude nominations from people who may not have the required documentation of sworn statements by three eyewitnesses.

I must admit I never investigated my primary school teachings further to the stories told. I would have thought something like a VC would have already been awarded. But surely if our leaders wish to produce a common history to this nations members they should dispense with the bullshit and award this man the award we have been told he deserves.

Not sure about you but I have always found hard to follow an ideology that changes its tune each time someone new comes to power and changes the policies. So either the Simpson story is no longer taught to our kids in school or he is given the honour he seemingly so rightly deserves.

Hall of Fame – Catherine McCoubrey

Published by SJ under Hall of Fame

The following article came to my attention over the weekend.

Absolute gold, I hope this bloke (when he recovers) never askes her for a haircut or assistance with a back-crack-n-sack….

Woman stabs lover in sex game

A CANADIAN woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing her boyfriend, nearly killing him, in a botched sex game in which he asked her to carve a heart-shaped symbol on his chest.

Catherine McCoubrey, 25, was sentenced to three years’ probation for the February 2007 assault, said the daily Winnipeg Free Press.

The couple had been drinking alcohol and were engaged in “rough sex” when the boyfriend egged her on, said the paper. She agreed, but accidentally pressed the knife too deep.

The 24-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with a puncture wound to his heart and was not expected to live, but has since recovered.

Takeover Target

Published by SJ under General

I watched in amazement last night as the great Takeover Target won the Krisflyer International Sprint Group 1 race in Singapore. He didn’t flog them, he was challenged for the lead by another Australian horse, Magnus as they straightened but TT knuckled down and went on to break the 1200 meter track record with a sizzling 1.08.8, outstanding!

All this for a purchase price of $1200. Former NSW Cab driver Joe Janiak saw something in this horse that know one else did and it has paid off for him bigtime. 6 Group 1 wins to his name and another trip around the world for owner and horse.

In my opinion a 12 year old girl could ride this thing to a win but Jay Ford rode the horse again and good luck to him, 10% is 10% in anyone’s language. I just wish he could do the same thing with the Fangsta!.

Other results from the weekend saw Valentino Rossi win Le Mans Moto GP in dominant fashion to gain the lead in the world championship.

Rampant Lion should have won the Doomben Cup but lost to the reinvigorated Sarrera.

Luke Nolen is still dead in my opinion.

Tim Sheens gave his star five-eighth Benji Marshal and absolute pizzling about his atrocious defence in the Tigers gutsy win over the nights on Sunday. Some of Tim’s comments were pretty harsh but fairly accurate.

And finally Sonny Bill Williams is apparently having a sook about his situation with the doggies. It wasn’t more than 6 weeks ago Sonny was on television bagging Willie Mason for turning his back on his beloved dogs and now SBW is having a crack. In all seriousness he had better start performing on the field rather than flapping his jaw like a spoilt 13 year old. He ain’t as good as all the talk has had him and I would know, I was paying some big wraps over the past few years. He is pissed off that he can’t play for NSW in the Origin, well I wouldn’t even pick him on his latest form!

Stop going on TV and talking SBW, start going on the field and dominating. You may just find that your disappointment with the dogs suddenly clears up.
