That time again

Published by SJ under General

It is that time of year again and personally my favourite sporting event for the year. Its ORIGIN.

Three games in the rugby league for the worlds greatest team honour. Lets face it, both NSW and QLD could beat any other team in the world at the moment!!

Here are the teams with my two cents on the match ups. The NSW bench seems stronger to me so I am concerned about the later periods in each half. What are your thoughts on the teams?

NSW team: QLD Team:

Brett Stewart, Billy Slater *

Jarryd Hayne, * Brent Tate

Mark Gasnier, * Greg Inglis

Matt Cooper, Justin Hodges *

Anthony Quinn, Israel Folau *

Greg Bird, Karmichael Hunt (Out of position is CRAP)

Peter Wallace, Johnathan Thurston *

Brett White, * Carl Webb

Danny Buderus (c) Cameron Smith (c) *

Ben Cross, Petero Civoniceva *

Ryan Hoffman, Michael Crocker *

Willie Mason, Sam Thaiday (Would love to see the knuckle between these two)

Paul Gallen. * Dallas Johnson

Interchange: Interchange:

Anthony Laffranchi, * Jacob Lillyman

Anthony Tupou, * Ben Hannant

Craig Fitzgibbon, * Nate Myles

Ben Hornby. * PJ Marsh

Broncos off the track

Published by SJ under General

Can someone tell my why Wayne Bennet persists with David Stagg at five-eighth in the absence of the great Darren Lockyer? No offence to Stagg, who I think is a good player, but I don’t think he is up to that position in the top grade.

A solution stares Benny in the face surely. We have two quality hookers in the team and I feel Michael Ennis could quite easily slip back to a pivot type role which will let PJ Marsh into a starting dummy half role. Marsh is as fit as a fiddle and could easily play the whole game away while Ennis can take a break from play when Wallace steps in to take the attack the other way. Its not perfect by any means but Stagg isn’t really working and neither did Carroll.

Another area of concern for me was the Broncos commitment for what seemed like a full 20 minutes before and after halftime. I found myself screaming at the TV for them to chase kicks, back up in defence and for the front rowers to make more than 1 hit up in a set of six.

Ashton ‘Pretty Boy’ Simms, in my opinion, will need a miracle training performance to even make the team next game. He has become so scared of knocking on that he has gone missing in the hit up department with only 8 hit ups and 14 tackles for the whole game. An unattended punching bag left in the middle of the field would achieve more than this!!!

As much as I disliked him for a few years Hodges was sorely missed, his normal commitment in defence and bump’n’run type attack were not taken up by teamates to any real extent. Darius Boyd did try but he needs to think about position play a little more, especially during high kicks near the line. If you watch the replay you will see what I mean.

I know the Broncs were down a few key players but I was disappointed in the performance and not because of a result. In this instance the Broncos could not count themselves unlucky in any respect. They played badly and lost accordingly.

Manly’s Jamie Lyon has never lived up to the hype but he seemed to be involved at several key points in the game and played well. The Beaver, a personal favourite of mine continues to plug away. I can’t see him stopping before the rapture…. Somebody must have inserted an energiser battery up his clacker or something!!

First four legs

Published by SJ under General

I have decided to start again with $5.00 and a dream. The following is todays attempt to get us back on top.

First off we need the Broncos to come through with a win over Manly @ $1.50 ($7.50 return)

Into St George to beat Parramatta this arvo as well @ $2.35 ($17.62 return)

We will cool our heels for a few hours then cheer home K. Raikkonen to win @ $4.50 ($79.31 return)

Then we hope Liverpool can get a result in the EPL from 12:00AM @ $2.45 ($194.30 return)

Heres hoping!

Signs that you watch to much…

Published by SJ under General

- Every time you watch the movie 2001 you wonder why Flair never sued them for stealing his music.

- In your resume under experience you write, “I’m the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be”

- You suspect your best friend is just setting you up for a heel turn.

- You go through an airport security line and you let them check everything except your boots…

- You pose in a photo with a few friends and instinctively flash the “Four Horsemen” sign.

- You begin to shake someone’s hand in public but then hesitate to look for the crowd’s response.

- You get into a real fight and you blade.

- You do the “Flair Strut” into a meeting at work…

- When you talk to the boss, every other phrase is “Wooooooooo!”…

- You are at work and accidentally slip and fall against a table or chair and wonder if you should “blade”…

- You go to shake someone’s hand at work and pull back at the last second to smooth down your hair and say “Woooooooo!”….

- Someone you work with leaves for another job, with more money, you accuse them of being disloyal to the company that made them a star.

- You flex in front of every mirror.

- You and your friends develop a secret hand signal.

- You chokeslam your cat.

- You rack your neighbor’s dog.

- You tell your cat “Meow one more time, and you can forget the ‘Fancy Feast’man, ’cause I’ll open up a can of ‘Whoop Ass’ and see how you like the taste of that!”

- You dream about splashing your boss from the top of your cubicle walls.

- You wake up in the morning rising from the dead like the Undertaker rather than just rolling out of bed

- Every time you sit down a table you consider how easily it might break if you were to moonsault it.

- You clothesline people in the supermarket for no real reason.

- You suplex your kids to bed

- You walk around with a towel on your head and you wipe your feet on invisible mats before you enter any room

- You shatter your knee-cap giving your friend a Tombstone Piledriver on concrete

- You think John the Baptist Bladed.

- Whenever a limo goes by, you shout Woooooo hoping for a response from “The Man”.

- Your first instinct was that Holyfield bled the hard way versus Tyson

- You keep waiting for run-ins during boxing matches

- You buy your fat mother-in-law some yellow polka dot “Dusty Rhodes” shorts.

- A trip to the barber with your friends turns into a “hair vs. hair match”.

- Your loved one hits the switch at night and you attack, thinking it’s a “lights out Texas death match”.

- When a female says she’s going to put on her face and you expect Sting paint or a mask to be worn when they get back.

- You do heel turns on your best friends for no reason

- Whenever you pass through customs, you tell the Controller you are from “Parts Unknown”.

- Instead of reading a bedtime story to your kids, you put them in a sleeper.

- Someone at a party tells a funny joke and you accuse him of trying to get over.

- Out of nowhere, you kick your boss and give him the Stone Cold Stunner.

- You’re getting beat up in a bar fight, but you honestly believe that with a little crowd support, you can turn this thing around.

- You watch the news and wonder if the ‘extremely graphic images’ were done by blading, capsule or hardway.

Delayed release

Published by SJ under General

I have never quite understood the benefits of releasing a new product in stages around the world. A recent example of this is the Iphone.

Why has Apple delayed the release of the Iphone in Australia? It was released too much global whoo haarr in June 2007 into the US market. A few months later it was released in Europe and has slowly been released around the world. Australia and Canada are still to see this phone “officially”. How is poor old Canada travelling? they are on the same continent as the manufacturer and they still have to smuggle them across the border like second class scumbags. They truly are the USA’s bitch, much the same as New Zealand is Australia’s.

I can understand a staggered release if there is an undersupply issue caused by manufacturing ramp ups, but this product is now 12 months old. Surely manufacturing processes are at a point where they can handle the additional output of a couple of small population based countries.

The whoo haarr of the Iphone has now worn off in my opinion. The recent releases of Ironman and Grand Theft Auto 4, both in same day worldwide releases, has highlighted in my eyes that you can’t beat worldwide buzz. Sure they will still try and make a big “Aussie” release of the Iphone and it will still probably sell well, but I doubt they will move as many units as they could have had they realeased the phone in say, August last year, when the buzz was rampant.

You suck Apple, and so does your mate Forrest.
