Well here they are my final tips for the 2008 Melbourne Cup. As someone who has never backed the winner I recommend listening to my top 4 selection. On the law of averages I am bloody due to kick one home!

On top I have Septimus. Clearly the understood best stayer in the Northern Hemisphere has come down to take out booty and I am struggling to find anything to beat him.

Second I have Nom De Jeu. Caulfield Cup form is more often than not a good read into the form and Nom’s run was one of the best.

Third I have Mad Rush. Again the CC form speaks for itself but can he make the 3200m? That is the question.

And for fourth I go with a horse that came home pretty well in the Cox Plate, Cest La Guerre. I may well have a dip at this one due to its price, specially if she’s a wet track.

Long shot is Ice Chariot. Put it in your multiples.
