Last week I wrote about the chances that the Broncos still have of making the NRL finals. This week I report that the Broncos have sunk beneath the waves.
A more disappointing performance I do not remember. Admittedly, I was gutted when an Ashton Sims mistake cost us a birth in the grand final last year but I now reflect that Saturday night was much, much worse.
Not only did I watch the now mighty, Wayne Bennett coached, Dragons come back from behind and dominate a strong Storm of Friday night; Sunday afternoon I was forced too endure the Canterbury Bulldogs come back and dominate a battling Bunnies! The pain from the Bulldogs comes at the knowledge that Hannant, Eastwood, Stagg & Ennis each last year called Brisbane home.
Broncos coach, Ivan Henjak apologised to Broncos fans, ex-players and sponsors. Not knowing what to do or say his press conference was comparable to his players performance only minutes earlier.
Sadly I think it is time for some tough decisions. The body language and effort in defence indicated that some members may not want to be there and were not interested in putting in 100% for themselves or their team. I hope I am wrong but I doubt I am (I rarely do).
