Shane Nelson 2.27

Aaron Riley 1.61

———-
Amir Sadollah vs Johny Hendricks 09 Aug 2009 11:30

Amir Sadollah 1.84

Johny Hendricks 1.93

Amir seems like the next poster boy for the UFC. He has gotten out of jail in a few of his fights but he seems likely here.
———-
Josh Neer vs Kurt Pellegrino 09 Aug 2009 11:30

Josh Neer 1.47

Kurt Pellegrino 2.62

The Dentist is a tough mofo but so is Kurt. I think the odds are about right here.
———-
Kendall Grove vs Ricardo Almeida 09 Aug 2009 11:30

Kendall Grove 2.31

Ricardo Almeida 1.59

Kendall is just one of those dudes who comes out and can fight real good or real ordinary.
———-
Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin 09 Aug 2009 11:30

Anderson Silva 1.26

Forrest Griffin 3.73

Anybody who’s anybody loves Forrest. This could be just like his win over Shogun Rua, no one expects it but he pulls out the upset. I will be cheering for him but Silva is real tough!
———-
BJ Penn vs Kenny Florian – UFC Lightweight Title 09 Aug 2009 11:30

BJ Penn 1.41

Kenny Florian 2.85

When someone loses a bad hand in poker they are quite often noticed to be ‘steaming’ in the very next hand and can make a silly mistake. BJ lost a big hand last fight against GSP and he may just make a silly mistake against Kenny. I just have a hunch.

To win the ashes

Published by SJ under General

Australia is still in a very difficult position to win the ashes. They are playing at the home of rain and must contend with a vice captain who spends more time checking himself out in the mirror than Wendell Sailor.

Admittedly Clarke managed to score a century in a very low-pressure situation yesterday but even the dreadfully out of form Mike Hussey managed to get a half century. My theory is if Hussey can get a century the pitch either turned into a flat track heaven, or the English forgot how to bowl line and length or Hussey got dropped 5 or 6 times. All three occurred proving that even an 18 year retired Swampy Marsh could have smashed a triple century in about 23 overs.

Somehow there are rumours that Peter Siddle is going to be dropped for Brett Lee which is one of the more stupid things suggested in recent memory. First off, Brett Lee was bowling absolute rubbish before he got injured and second Mitchell Johnson has been bowling absolute rubbish this series. I did see glimpses of a Johnson return to form but it is to little to late for mine.

If anyone comes into the side it is Stuart Clark for Johnson and I would much rather have Ronald MacDonald batting for us than Shane ‘Watto’ Watson.

In all seriousness how is Hussey still there?

UFC 101 – It is here

Published by SJ under General

I am not sure about this one…..

I think Kenny may just upset BJ Penn. I am not sure why just call it a hunch.

I also think that Anderson Silva has bitten off more dog than he can chew with Forrest. He got fight? you better believe it!

They are Goooonnnnneee

Published by SJ under General

Last week I wrote about the chances that the Broncos still have of making the NRL finals. This week I report that the Broncos have sunk beneath the waves.

A more disappointing performance I do not remember. Admittedly, I was gutted when an Ashton Sims mistake cost us a birth in the grand final last year but I now reflect that Saturday night was much, much worse.

Not only did I watch the now mighty, Wayne Bennett coached, Dragons come back from behind and dominate a strong Storm of Friday night; Sunday afternoon I was forced too endure the Canterbury Bulldogs come back and dominate a battling Bunnies! The pain from the Bulldogs comes at the knowledge that Hannant, Eastwood, Stagg & Ennis each last year called Brisbane home.

Broncos coach, Ivan Henjak apologised to Broncos fans, ex-players and sponsors. Not knowing what to do or say his press conference was comparable to his players performance only minutes earlier.

Sadly I think it is time for some tough decisions. The body language and effort in defence indicated that some members may not want to be there and were not interested in putting in 100% for themselves or their team. I hope I am wrong but I doubt I am (I rarely do).

Ben Harper and Relentless7 and Liam Finn to Open All Dates

Tickets for all shows on sale, Monday 17 August

Pearl Jam announced today that they will play a series of outdoor shows in November in Australia and New Zealand, in support of their new album, Backspacer.

Pearl Jam will be returning to Australia for the first time in 3 years, bringing with them their old touring mates, Ben Harper and Relentless7 and Liam Finn, to play for one night only in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Christchurch. Tickets for all shows go on sale on Monday 17 August.

Scheduled for release in Australia and New Zealand on Friday, 18 September, the band‘s ninth studio album, Backspacer, will be available in both countries before the rest of the world. The first single, The Fixer, went to Australian radio on 21 July and was the No. 1 most added song to radio that week.

It‘s been 3 years since Pearl Jam last toured Australia and New Zealand and their Australian fans clearly haven‘t forgotten them with two songs appearing in Triple J‘s recent Hottest 100 of All Time list (Alive at No. 24 and Better Man at No. 39).

Appearing with Pearl Jam, and no stranger to Australian shores, is Ben Harper and Relentless 7, who were last here in April of this year to headline the 20th Anniversary East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and perform a one-off, sold out headline show in Sydney.

Opening all shows will be New Zealand‘s own Liam Finn. Having played his own sold-out shows on every continent, opened for the The Black Keys and Eddie Vedder, and performed at the All Tomorrow‘s Parties‘ ATP Vs The Fans Part II: The Fans Strike Back Festival in UK earlier this year, Liam will join the tour in support of the worldwide release his new EP, Champagne In Seashells, featuring Long Way to Go, on 4 September, 2009.

The shows announced will be ‗one-show-only‘ concerts and promise to be THE must-see rock events of the summer season!

Tickets for all Australian and New Zealand shows will go on sale at 9am on Monday, 17 August 2009, and details of ticket outlets for each show are below.

***Ten Club members-only ticket pre-sale details to follow. Check www.pearljam.com for details.
