Whip sense

Published by SJ under General

The jockeys have done well for themselves. It is not a perfect solution but I believe it is a lot more workable than the previous rules.

While jockeys must still only whip the horse on alternate strides inside the final 200 metres of a race, they can now use the whip a total of seven times in the last 100 metres.

Under the new rules introduced on August 1, jockeys were restricted to three consecutive strikes on one occasion inside the final 200 metres and from then on could only use the whip every second stride.

At least now they only have to count to seven while coming up to the line inside the last 100 meters.

I hope the S&M clubs around Australia have adjusted their rules accordingly. If not the Australian Racing Board will be at your door before the “safe word” can touch your lips.

I also like Woody’s idea

So now the jockeys can hit 7 times in the closing stages gee thanks for nothing. Maybe we should arm the jockeys with tazers that way they could have a wild west stlye shoot up as they come down the straight or maybe paint ball guns the horses dont get hit but at least the punter gets a fair crack at backing a winner

Tazers are the future whips!

Serena Williams Sooks-a-lot

Published by SJ under General

You go girl

Lets face it, if certain referees in this world knew that the penalty for incorrect judgements would be to have a tennis ball shoved down their throat than I am guessing a lot of stupid decisions would suddenly disappear.

Serena Williams inspired a few upset judge attacks over the weekend.

Kane West jumped up on stage at the MTV Awards and give it to the judges for what he thought, an incorrect decision. It was some very good gear! Not only did he look like an absolute simpleton he entertained the masses with his girlfriend who was in some sort of weird body suit that intrigued me.

Gold Coast Titans coach John Cartright taught referees Ben Cummins and Ashley Klein a valuable lesson on how to skip obvious decisions and give obvious one sided decisions that support the Titans. Luckily the NRL stood in here and dished out an appropriate punishment to the niff.

The jockeys have finally stood up for themselves rebelling against the stupid whip rule. If it costs us a Melbourne cup than that is fine by me because I will be dammed if I am cheering home a chance with squillions of my hard earned riding on it while the jockey sits there twiddling his thumbs pushing a neck.

Back to Serena. I am still a big fan. Whilst she does have a big caboose I reckon she is as fit as a fiddle and worthy of a trundle. So if you are reading this Miss Williams just give us a holler and SJ will bring home the bacon.

What have we learned here? Bitch about the decision as often as possible.

More Finals Talk

Published by SJ under General

Bet of the week. Before we get into the talk I think it only fair that I let you know of my awesome betting prowess.

Friday night I bet on Jason Akermanis to kick the first goal in the AFL game all up into Billy Slater to score the first try. A $495 dollar return for a $5 outlay was the result. Yes yes I rock.

If you don’t follow the NRL or AFL tune out now.

The Broncos are back and are well and truly on their way to there 7th title. Apart from a slack second half they totally out played the junior burgers down the highway. The bitching and moaning resulting from apparent poor referee decisions is a surprise. Anyone who thinks that Israel Folau took out Chris Walker is and absolute moron and this includes Titans captain Scott Prince.

The Dragons crumbled to the revived Parramatta Eels and Jarryd Hayne is actually starting to impress me. The Bulldogs did what I expected to the Knights and the Storm put on a clinic against the ex champions Manly. Exit stage left Manly and the Knights. This week is

Titans V Eels in Sydney somewhere (Eels)

Broncos V St George at Lang Park (Broncos)

AFL portion of the week is a pump up for the might Western Bulldogs. With Jason Akermanis still playing some of his best football and the rest of the team looking very solid they are still my selection for the title. They face their toughest test this week when they face St Kilda in a preliminary grand final game. The other prelim is between Collingwood and Geelong which interests me little. I did receive this little cartoon from a family member recently….

Western Bulldogs V St Kilda (Doggies)

Geelong V Collingwood (Geelong)

Derren Brown Predicts the Lotto

I am not sure how “live” this actually was but from all reports it was live so the question remains.

How he did it?

Any thoughts?

Oh and another Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights movie.

Round the world in a pink boat

Published by SJ under General

Are the parents of Jessica Watson insane?

I am not sure but I have a bad feeling that her attempt at a round the world journey in bright pink sail boat could be a terrible mistake.

I don’t know her exact route but sea pirates are a real problem in a number of areas around the world and a 16 year old girl alone in the ocean would not be something they would skip passed if they happen upon her.

No ill will do I wish upon her or the family but if the horrible does happen I would not at all be surprised, nor would I be to upset. People who ‘risk it all’ in adventures like this should be completely aware of the dangers they face. Her family should also be readily aware that there is a real possibility of extreme danger from the elements and our fellow man.

I am always left with the question of why? It is not like there are unchartered waters in need of discovery, there is no lost treasure, there is only the chance of proving you can do it alone against the world. Oh and the hope that a burgeoning media career awaits you on your return. I hope it’s worth it.

NRL Tipping Comp 2009 – Final Result

Published by SJ under General

Due to severe tropical thunderstorm I have only a short note to let you know that Megaman Moorey outlasted the field to win this years tipping comp. A fast finishing Reeeegitz did all he could scoring a perfect final round but Mega held out for a solid victory.

What hurts the most is that $50 of my hard earned will go to the Mega in an apparent drunken promise to pay earlier in the year.

Cheers to all participants and we look forward to an exciting finals series and Bronco domination.
