Oi niff nuffs in charge, I again draw your attention to the following.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with having carrying out my civil duty of voting in elections and always perform this duty to the full extent of my ability (except for that one time I was to hung over). But really, enough of this calling snap elections when your polls look good or letting the media feed seemingly endlessly on our leaders whim to choose when we will decide if they have a job any longer and enough of these separate elections. It is time to got to fixed four year terms for national, state and local governments and have 1 election day every four years. That’s it done dusted no more soup for you.
This will save us, taxpayer funds, the excitement of three separate civil campaigns at once and the potential loss of two additional Saturdays. These extra Saturdays will come in handy when I want to drink the day away at a pub punting on horses, football games and whatever else is going.
An alternative
The alternative to a totalitarian “election day” is to make any election day on a work day and a public holiday. If they do this I want them to got to 6 month terms and a ban on elections on the same day.
Pay increases
Oh and another new rule is to make Politicians pay increases subject to the boards approval ie. If they are going to give themselves an above inflation pay increase then they will have to get it approved by their bosses just like the rest of us. Or should they be above this?
Mandatory voting
Whilst on this voting topic what are everyone’s thoughts on mandatory voting? My old man always used to say that “I don’t see why someone who doesn’t give a dam how this country is run should be forced to make a decision on the matter.” I tend to agree with him. If you don’t care how the country should be run then why do you get a say. But then, there is the other argument, everyone should vote because…… well I don’t really know, but I am sure some one will have a reason why?

I do enjoy Bathurst. For some it may be the most boring event on the face of the earth. To me it is like a moving game of chess with the additional possibility rain will send the chess pieces into an absolute frenzy.
I was not disappointed Sunday with the race starting on a wet track with sunny sky above. The drying track proved an interesting hurdle for some drivers to come to terms with. Some who took the gamble to go onto slicks early were entertaining to say the least, sliding all over the shop. A second down pour later in the day also provided much interest.
With some visitors arriving in the middle of the day I missed a few bits and pieces here or there but the beauty of Bathurst is that you can miss sections and come back later to catch up with what you have missed fairly quickly.
Channel 7 can be frustrating at times with their constant ad breaks and continual missing of important events but overall I think their coverage is pretty fair. Their coverage of the older cars or vintage classic was also appreciated.
A friend of this website went to the track for the day and if we are really nice to him he may even let us post a few photographs from the days festivities.

Apparently John Howard is being considered for the top job of a newly run NRL competition. I am pretty sure nobody asked Johnny about this before the media was advised and now the potential employers look like a bunch of complete niffs.
Dave Letterman telling all and sundry that he give it to certain staff members. I am sure his wife liked it too.
Interest rate rise. The dimwits in charge couldn’t predict an upcoming fart let alone the future of the economy. Just like all these slack jawed yokels trying to tell us that the dollar is definitely going to parity. I have been watching the Australian dollar for 15 years and still know no one who has EVER predicted its future accurately.
Hey Hey it is Red’s Racism. I was not personally offended but as soon as I saw it I knew trouble was ahead. I like Harry C and thought what he said was not as bad as it is being made out to be. How mean was John Blackman to Jackie, funny but mean!
The Kindle is now available in Australia (yes I had mine ages ago because I am special) if you like reading then I can recommend it for the traveller!

I don’t know if anyone else suffers this affliction or not but here it is. I constantly hear my mobile phone ringing. I could be sitting in a caravan park at Kingscliff quietly sipping a beer while enjoying the sunset over the beach and I will hear my mobile phone incessantly ringing inside the van. After finally deciding that someone really really wants to talk to me I get up, leave the beer and wander in to answer it only to find that I have no new messages, nothing! not so much as a missed bloody call!
I thought I could outsmart this phenomenon with a change in ring tone but no go joe blow, she still phantom ring all freaking night long. I have already checked it for missed calls 5 times tonight. I went through a period recently of purposely leaving the phone in the car which did work but I then constantly missed calls from friends trying to arrange exciting activities for me.
I have now changed the ring tone for friends to be the theme to the Benny Hill show and the normal ring tone is just a standard Nokia jingle. Now I hear Benny Hill theme and smile because I know it is not an after hours work call but still can still hear the standard jingle bleating away in the background throughout different periods of the night. Ahhh sweet liquor, eases the pain.
I have two questions
Does anyone else experience this?
If not can should I be concerned?

I made an annoying error on the weekend when a rather sizable sports-bet multi which included a baseball game in the US was placed. I had stupidly not checked on whether the game would be televised in Australia and realised that I would have no way to watch the game.
Enter a little website called Justin.tv
Justin.tv is a website that allows users to produce and watch live streaming video. Like YouTube, Justin.tv user accounts are called “channels”, and users are encouraged to broadcast a wide variety of user-generated live video content, called “broadcasts”. The beauty is that users can broadcast anything, so live streams of sporting events, television premiers, movies and even pay per view events can be found in its channels. While perhaps not totally legal it does present an opportunity to people in my situation trying to see an event that is not being telecast in the country I live in.
I logged on there clicked on the “sport” section and sure enough the baseball game in question was up and available to view. Free of charge and fairly reasonable quality. Unfortunately the sports-bet multi did not come off but I am happy with the knowledge that Justin.tv will enable me to view a number of international sporting events previously unavailable.
Good work interweb!
