I have not tried it yet as I have not had the need, but I do have an opinion on some aspects of the new tunnel.
1. What is with all the dead beat losers who stayed up late to try the tunnel for the first time? Seriously how is your life travelling if you think it important to take time out with your wife and kids to drive on a, lets face it, boring piece of infrastructure after 12:00 AM on a school night. I will tell you how your life is travelling, not to good!
2. Anyone who ran through the tunnel before it was opened = Moron!
Unless you normally run for fun and this event was somewhere near, where and when you normally run. If you run for fun I question your intelligence anyway but will let it slide here.
3. The toll seems quite high and wish we were not exposed to tolls for improvements to the city/state/country but this is the way it has been accepted by the voters. Unfortunately any profits will go elsewhere. You are free to purchase shares in the partial owners of the tunnel if you wish Rivercity Motorway Group (RCY.AX) but they are carrying the debt of construction at the moment. There is always the risk the tunnel will fail or customers won’t use it. But if you think it’s a good thing in the long run take a look at it, but take a serious look.
4. After the tunnel opened there was much complaint by government officials that drivers were slowing down to a crawl in the tunnel. Hmmm well, government official morons, if you hadn’t installed 8 FREAKIN SPEED CAMERAS in the tunnel perhaps your customer morons wouldn’t slow down to 20 km/h to avoid your speed taxes!
That said, I hope the tunnel helps with the congestion issue.
