Snickers have had some pretty good ads over the years. They had a series of ads with Mr T, which I thought were gold. However they failed to parlay that wining success by utilising my most awesome campaign suggestion of the snickers snickometer at the cricket.
Despite this mistake they managed to fight off bankruptcy and have returned with a few interesting ads featuring celebrities. The following featuring the delightfully fabulous Liza Minnelli is my personal fave.
I am conducting an experiment. I believe if you can pick two horses on any given Saturday as your absolute best chances of the day, why not all up them both creating a fixed sport bet multi. I have been doing it for a couple of weeks with some success so thought it time to publish a few to see if the pressure will crumble me.

As callous as this may sound the current Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster (pictured) may present one of the best opportunities to take a position in the worlds fourth largest companies for a truly bargain basement price.
It is a public relations nightmare. 11 people dead, 17 injured and so much oil gushing out of the ground it is going to take years to clean up. So far BP have spent somewhere just over 1 billion dollars trying to fix the leak and all efforts have failed. 42 days after the initial explosion no one knows if the problem can be fixed.
If they have spent 1 billion in just over a month there must be serious concerns as to whether they will risk a very large percentage of their profits to fix the problem. Profits at 16 odd billion last year I don’t have a problem with this and think they should pay every penny necessary to rectify the problem.
Currently the company trades at 419 pence (down 15% on Friday alone). Last year the company made a profit of 56 pence a share and paid out a dividend of 36 pence. Based on the current share price that is an initial rate of return of 13% per anum. That scenario is cute and all but will more than likely bare no resemblance to what happens to BP if they are unable to repair the leak in the Gulf of Mexico.
The decision on whether it is a good investment will be based on the price you pay for the share and the return you will get (if you get one). Based a situation where BP are forced to pay 10 billion to fix the issue I think an investment in BP could be worth it. Based on a scenario where they go broke it is a shithouse investment obviously. Its up to you to decide whether this will destroy them or is simply a speed bump in the road of super profits. When opportunity knocks you need to determine if it’s the grim reaper or someone a little more friendly.
Anyone know of an easy way to purchase overseas stock?
You may be aware that I enjoy the occasional wager on the sport of Kings from time to time. Whilst having a wager I also enjoy quietly drinking a few ginger ales. You may also be interested that I have a few associates who also enjoy a wager and a ginger ale.
In times gone by we used to meet and enjoy a wager / ginger ale together in a central location agreeable to all of us (for future reference lets just call this ‘the punt’). However times have changed and an agreeable location has become a problem.
We need a new venue. I am not ruling out punts in various locations on the south or north side from time to time but we do need a common area that is acceptable for all of us.
I have decided that for the majority the punt needs to occur somewhere in the Brisbane CBD as it is central for busses / trains from the suburbs and close enough that a cab shouldn’t kill the deal for those lucky enough to live within 8 km’s from the city.
The difficulty is finding suitable locations in the city to punt and this is where you four can assist us.
As some of y’all work in the CBD I am hoping you can provide much needed data on Pub Tab locations in this area. I assume you may occasionally have lunch in a pub and I am hoping you can do a quick once around to determine some of the following.
a) does this pub have a TAB
b) if yes to (a) does the area of the TAB look like it can accommodate a group of 10 people easily or is it crowded and cramped
c) if yes to (a) and (b) would you mind taking a couple of photos with your phones and forwarding them to me/us for consideration
Other areas of consideration are
How many TAB machines are present – less than two is not ideal
Prices ie. is the joint all fancy smancy or is it just a normal pub or a dump…
Efficiency of the staff
Hotness of the staff
I would much appreciated your assistance in my quest for CPTD (Central Pub Tab Destination)
