Sons of Anarchy

Published by SJ under General

I have found a new favourite TV show. The Sons of Anarchy is gold!

The plotline generally revolves around the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in Northern California. The show centers on protagonist Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the Vice President of the club who begins questioning the club and himself.

Supporting characters from the make believe Teller-Morrow family of Charming, California, as well as the other members of Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original Chapter (SAMCRO), their families, various Charming townspeople, and the various rivals and associates who undermine or support SAMCRO’s legal and illegal enterprises. The show follows the gang itself but also features a number of ally and rival gangs, such as the Mayans, 1-9ers, Nords, True IRA, Aryan Brotherhood (AB’s), and a white separatist group called the League of American Nationalists (LOAN).

It is not a show for the faint hearted. Lets be clear, these people are bikies and they live the bikie lifestyle. It is a bit hard and those with squimish stomachs may find the first episode including a double murder, drug overdose and bashing including a stapping with a pool cue a little to much. But for those who can keep in mind that this is all just make believe it is an entertaining show with an interesting plot line.

Other supporting actors include former Married with Children star Katey Sagal who plays Jax’s mother and also wife to Club President Clay Morrow. Clay is played by the one and only Ron Perlman who you will probably recognise from any number of of movies and TV shows.

A little look…

Michael Clarke it begins

Published by SJ under General

It has been a month or two so it is time for some Michael Clarke bashing.

Let’s be clear straight up (just for you TuPawz). Clarke can play in the One Day International (ODI) and the 20/Tenty Australian (TT) side untill the rapture. I couldn’t care less, as that form of the game is not what it is all about. The real game of cricket is Test Cricket and not all these airy fairy half assed versions they are putting on at the moment.

I am not saying that ODI and TT cricket should be stopped I am just stating that in terms of actual performance I do not care about this game. I do care however for Test Cricket and this is where my comments on Clarke come in to their own.

Clarke’s current career average is 46.49

Not terrible but not a superstar when you compare him to the likes of Dean Jones, Clive Lloyd, Bobby Simpson, Bill Lawry, Adam Gilchrist, Dougy Walters, Neil Harvery, Allan Border, Matthew Hayden, Steve Waugh, Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting.

Interestingly the heads of Steve Waugh, Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting were/are all DEMANDED by the Australian media. Yet their respective averages are all well above Clarkes.

The story continues….

Since the start of 2008 he has averaged 40.01

The average slump begins.

Since the start of 2009 he has averaged 37.91

A further slump.

The start of the 2009 Australian Summer lead to no improvement with his average dropping to 33.03 from then till now.

Coooooey….. Coooooooooeey.

And since the beginning of 2010 things have only gotton worse 31.38!!!

WTF??!!!!

From certain points of view this is an acceptable average. From my perspective for one of the “2010 Wisden Cricketers of the Year” to have a record like this is laughable.

It is time the Australian Media went into the same shark feeding frenzy they circled the aforementioned Waugh, Hussey and now injured Ponting with.

Clarke should not be in the team let alone be vice captain.

Wake up Australia!

Fatty Vautin TV Debut – a sign of things to come

Published by SJ under General

I have been looking around for a long time for this. For some reason I find Fatty’s fumbling bumbling style champagne comedy.

This little treasure makes me giggle every single time I watch it. The fact he has ended up host of a TV show for 15 plus years is a testament to the old adage of “give him another go”. Someone, I am presuming David Leckie or Packer himself must have said that about the Fatman.

Hollywood Sooks

Published by SJ under General

Well it is award season so here we go again. Boring award show after boring award show where the who is who of the movie world push themselves into the lime light as if it were their right. And of course the media and public are expected to do their duty and marvel at just how tremendous this industry is.

Occasionally someone comes along and tries to show these self inflated niffs just how stupid their whole charade really is.

Thank you oh thank you for Ricky Gervais! He is not one of my favourite comics but he does have a tendency to go for the hurtful target jokes. In this instance I found it funny.

Some of his gold at last nights Golden Globe awards was….

He….

said the only reason the Johnny Depp-Angelina Jolie dribble flick “The Tourist” got nominated was because the association “accepted bribes,”

described “I Love You Philip Morris” as “two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay — which is the exact opposite of some famous Scientologists. Probably.”

claimed Robert Downey Jr. was best known for his rehab stints

referred to Bruce Willis as Ashton Kutcher’s “dad”

compared Tim Allen’s career unfavorably to co-presenter Tom Hanks’

joked that the association has been accepting bribes for Cher’s concert ticket and that it really isn’t a bribe at all because nobody wants to see her anymore.

Aparrently Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr and Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk are not happy campers. All of whom think that Gervais “crossed the line”.

All I can say is wake up to yourselves you sooking bunch of pansies. No one cares that some rich prick actor is upset at a couple of jokes.

The opening monologue

Some repeats but more funnies

Retirement and Chuck Liddell

Published by SJ under General

A few days ago the great Chuck Liddell called it a day. A lot of Johnny come lately UFC fans may not understand the love a lot of longer time UFC fans have for this man. The end of his career has not been covered in the show stopping knock outs that littered his early career…. well actually it was, but they were him being KO’d unfortunately.

Regardless, I think he has done the right thing and retired. His once jaw of granite has become a balser wood palace where to many punchers were driving a wedge between his consciousness and that wonderful place known as noddy land. Perhaps no more brutal an example of this is Rashad Evans’s UFC 88 destruction.

The following video shows some of the good times.
