As we recently discussed, UFC 129 is coming up this weekend and I am very excited. Not only will this event feature TWO world titles on the card, that’s right TWO!!! We will also see Randy Couture fight for probably the last time, see Ben Henderson and Mark Bocek try and Jitz the shit out of each other and we also get to see the UFC’s biggest live gate ever with 55,000 crazy arse Canadians literally hanging from the rafters cheering on their national hero Georges St-Pierre to a likely title loss against the incredibly gritty Jake Shields.
The main card starts at my joint from 11:00AM and all the above entertainment for a mere $5 entry fee J. If you don’t know where I live then you are more than likely not invited. If you want to see it but don’t know where I live give me a call and we will see what we can tee up. If you are some homeless dude looking to get out of the sun for a few hours try a bridge.
There is still some time to get on Jake Shields with our wonderful sponsors at sportingbet.com.au. just click their banner at the top left of the page.
Main Card – Main Event PPV – From 11:00AM
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St-Pierre (c) vs. Jake Shields
Featherweight Championship bout: José Aldo (c) vs. Mark Hominick
Light Heavyweight bout: Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Jason Brilz
Light Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida
Lightweight bout: Mark Bocek vs. Ben Henderson

The underlined names I will be betting on.

I am about to go on a snap-kick-to-the-head spree if I hear one more shred of dribble about the royal wedding.
Once again we are forced to endure the obligatory hype that our media companies serve up like last months spag bowl. I do not understand why this is so important. The level of attention this event is getting is completely disproportionate to the demographic of people who give a toss about this wedding. Lets make a list of anyone who would actually be interested in this.
- 70% Heterosexual woman
- Homosexual men
- Some kids
That is it!
Any heterosexual man who claims to be interested in this event is living a lie and hopes to don gimp mask and visit the nearest blue oyster bar as soon as humanly possible. Or is so scared of his wife that he has knowingly removed his own gonads and given them to his wife for safekeeping where they currently reside somewhere in her handbag. Either way, any normal man will deservedly receive a snap-kick-to-the-head from me should they show interest in this event in my presence. Once again, you have been warned.
Given that nearly 50% of marriages finish in divorce there is a good chance this whole thing will be a massive waste of time and money. Maybe I am just one of the last romantics.
Anyway, here are a few more pictures of the blushing bride.
In just jeans
Maybe picture this dress in white and we are getting an early preview?

This week saw a bunch of Favourite backers get the bickies. 4 players got a perfect round which is a pretty strange happening in the NRL over the last few seasons. Had they had an 8 leg all up Sports Bet they would be quite happy this morning. Anything?
I am happy regardless because the mighty Bronco’s won again, stupid brain explosion Hayne got suspended for a head-but (should have been 10 weeks) and I picked Darius Boyd to score the first try for St George last night.

That is what I believe the papers will say the morning after UFC 129. This is a very different scenario to that which I discussed in the Jon Jones fight and is a much riskier wager if you are that way inclined. But I do believe at 4.50 Shields is one of the best value prospect bets of the year.
I break it down as follows.
If you were going to have a bet on who would win in a fight with GSP and Dan Henderson who would you choose? Remember that Dan is at least a weight class above GSP. If you say GSP definitely wins you are a clown. If you give GSP a chance to beat Hendo I would let it go but in my books a fight between Hendo and GSP would be pretty close. I would choose Hendo to beat GSP but it could be a flip of the coin.
A little while ago now Hendo and Jake Shields fought for the Strikeforce middleweight title. Hendo came out swinging in the first round and had Shields in major trouble. I mean major trouble. But Shields kept his cool reacted as necessary and got out of the round. For the next four rounds Shields managed to out grapple and out wrestle a former two time Olympic wrestler making him look like a little kid trying to get his school bag back! Well not that bad but he did dominate Hendo. And sure, people say Hendo gassed, SO! he only gassed because Shields pushed him so hard. Excuses smexcuses, Shields beat Hendo definitively.
Then we look further into Shields’ record.
He has not been beaten in 6 years.
He has won 15 fights straight.
The list of fighters he has beaten include. Remember this title fight is welterweight.
- Yushin Okami (who is a middleweight)
- Carlos Condit (who is a middlewight & he beat both of these on the same night!)
- Mike Pyle
- Nick ‘the Goat’ Thompson
- Paul Daley
- Robbie Lawler (who is a middleweight)
- Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller (who is a middleweight)
- Martin Kampmann
- And the previously mentioned Dan Henderson who is
—>Current Strikeforce Lightheavyweight Champion
—>Former Pride Middleweight and Welterweight Champion
—>Two time Olympian
Some people might suggest that listings someone’s resume doesn’t mean shit. I agree to a certain extent but for Jake Shields to be paying 4.25 is excellent odds. As I said earlier, it is not the Jon Jones bet and I do not recommend you put your house on it, but this fight is a lot closer than the bookies have it and I predict Jake Shields will be the NEW!! UFC Welterweight CHAMPION!
It is 20 minutes long but here is a look at UFC Prime Time GSP Vs Shields Episode one. Episodes 2 and 3 can be seen on ONE HD over the next two Friday nights.
