Australia’s own Hector Lombard does it again

Published by SJ under General

I really can’t figure out why this true blue Aussie just can’t get a break in the UFC. He is toweling everyone up he faces but the niff nuff comments I read on Bloody Elbow are ridiculous. Seriously, people this stupid shouldn’t have enough money to buy a computer let alone the ability to log into the Bloody Elbow comments section and dribble some of the crap I was reading.

Anyway Hector is real good and that.

State of F1

Published by SJ under General

As a sponsor of the Rhettro Photography Race Team I thought this racing post might be the right place to post a couple of happy snaps for you.

I have been a fan of Formula On for a fair amount of time now. There have been years where it was not much more that a glorified procession and others when the racing was entertaining enough. For the most part unless there was rain the racing itself was not as exciting as it could have been.

After the first race of the 2011 season here at home I held little hope for an exciting year and lamented as much here, but the last few races have been thoroughly enthralling. While Sebastian Vettel has been winning for the most part the passing has been great and the pitstops have been a fascinating game of chess on the side.

All the excitement comes down to two changes:-

New Pirelli tyres have been an interesting change. They were designed to only last a certain distance with their performance dropping off very quickly when they reach their prime. At first I thought they were a dud but it seems that getting a tyre choice wrong can make a huge difference in qualifying or the race. Mark Webber proved in the Chinese Grand Prix that a few smart choices can really keep him in the game as he stormed up the grid from 18th to second. Though I would like it if the different compounds were easier to discern on TV.

The adjustable rear wings is the other change. I think this has been a great change. One of the most frustrating things of F1 gone by was watching someone who you know is faster than the person in front of him stuck there unable to pass for lap after lap. It was annoying for the viewer and I can only imagine infuriating for the stuck driver. The new adjustable wing has made passing down the straight a far more realistic process. It has not made passing easy but it has made it at least possible. If the amount of brake locking up the inside I have seen over the past few races is any indication of excitement than you can be assured I am giggling like a little school girl high on tyre smoke at the prospect of what the rest of the season has in store!

Keep it coming kids!

Tiger Woods 2012 – Fun times with mates online

Published by SJ under General

I used to play golf in a previous life. I still enjoy the idea of playing golf but always find I want to bludgen the skul of nearest human with my 1 iron every time I try and play!

Its not the company, its about my temper but that is another story. My friends think I have given up golf, I prefer to think of it as quiting as it seems more noble. Perhaps one day I will grace the fairways of Royal Nudgee but until then lets see what EA sports has served up in Tiger Woods 2012.

I had read that the latest version of Tiger Woods included the Augusta National golf course and also Australia’s Royal Melbourne which are both pluses! The other intrigue was the use of the Playstation move functionality which I thought looked pretty cool. Anyway those three were enough to get me into JB HiFi to pick up a copy.

The game design is a little confusing at first but once you get the hang of it (like anything) its not to bad. Getting the move functionality to work seemed much harder than it needed to be but now I can calibrate it it works fine. The full swing functionality is actually pretty good. In real life I always had a draw or a hook and that is apparent in the game. Once a hooker …

The area I am still really struggling with is the half or three quarter swings and the putting. For example if you are 50 meters out from the pin the game suggests you hit a pitching wedge 47%. When I try and hit a 47% pitching wedge it generally seems to come out at 100% and flies over the back of the green. I try to swing soft but can’t seem to get it right. It just seems to be different to how I would hit that distance in real life.

The putting tends to suffer the same problem. A strength of putt I would typically use in real life doesn’t seem to match what the game needs. Half the time my putts go less than halfway, very annoying!

After UFC 129 last week end a mate of mine called Toothless Tony and I played 18 holes at Augusta National which is pretty cool. He won that game so we played another 18 holes but this time at Royal Melbourne. I dominated and was happy with that. But my mate Toothless Tony is a competitive big lump and he wanted a declared winner so we played another 18 holes. He ended up pulling of some bullshit shots and got the win but I was a bit tired and don’t put much value in his win. We had played for six freakin hours!!

Not sure if I should admit this but the next day my back and shoulders were very sore. Is it wrong that I strained muscles playing a video game? Of course when I called Toothless Tony to see how he had pulled up he was fine but I reckon he was hurting too.

Anyway its pretty enjoyable! So to all my mates who have kids and don’t leave their houses anymore because they are scared of their wives, go out and buy it and we can play and chat online!

Do it! QuiteFatSimon, Realbigutz, Maximus Gavinus, Gamblor, Topaz, IamPepismax, Tunge, Fatup and yes even Toothless Tony I am looking at you!!

Subway Big Mac

Published by SJ under General

I took the plunge recently and decided to try the new Subway Wagyu Beef Sub. I tend to stick to the same things when I find something I like so trying something new is not a normal thing for me. When I do try new things I find I am more than often than not disappointed and this turned out to be one of those times.

Just so we are all clear I have listed the ingredients of death as follows.

Foot long Italian herb bread
Wagyu beef
Cheddar cheese
Onion
Pickle
Lettuce
Salt n Pepper
And the homestyle tomato relish

First surprise was it is a meat. I thought it was a piece of beef like a strip of steak but no no, it is a dirty rotten patty, it’s a Wagyu patty but still just a patty.

Second surprise is the homestyle tomato relish. I think homestyle is code for something! I am not 100% on what it might be but it could be ‘toe jam’ or ‘regurgitated red vinega and shiraz’

I think Subway staff should have just robbed a McDonald’s Truck carrying their special sauce because for all intensive purposes this sub was just a Big Mac without the special sauce. The patty tasted much like the Mig Mac patty but lacked the tang of special sauce. On a side note I love special sauce! can you buy that gear?

In the end the Subway Wagyu Sub just tasted like ass. Bad darts Subway.

Pacman does it again.

Published by SJ under General

I didn’t buy it thank goodness as I here Sugar Shane Mosley ran from Pacman just like the video game for 12 rounds. Part of the reason I have given boxing a wide birth for a few years. Here is a little highlight package for those interested.
