About 6 months ago I took the plunge and signed up to that Facepage thingy. It was interesting for about 2 months then between all the ‘likes’ and people commenting on someone else’s ‘status’ I lost interest. I think this scenario has happened a number of times now and it is a pattern that seems to continue.
A group of people invent a new interactive thingy (could be a website or other product). People join the thingy and thinks it is cool, in turn they tell other people to join in because it is so awesome. The people that own the thingy decide they want to make money so they invent tricky little ways to sell advertising on their thingy. The people who used to think the thingy was cool suddenly become aware of something fishy. The people who own the thingy become desperate to hold onto as many supporters as possible and try even new and fancy ways to keep their clients interested, like buying new thingy’s from other groups for exorbitant prices. In the mean time the tide is going out, people are leaving in droves and nothing can stop it… well except for maybe free lap-dances but other than that you can’t stop the tide.
The reality is that nobody likes being sold to without the power to avoid it. As soon as people figure out it is happening to them they leave. That reminds me don’t forget to check out the sponsors.
Interestingly I believe TV remains relevant as customers can always change the channel or fast forward when ads come on.
A friend of mine told me that Facebook is considering an initial public offering on the share market with values of over 100 billion being touted. Perhaps some of the insiders at FB might be starting to realise that the tide has turned….

One of the biggest conspiracies in world cricket has finally been completed. The best cricket brain in our nation and our only hope to save the Australian cricket team has been screwed by a certain show pony clown who obviously has photos of Andrew Hilditch and James Sutherland in some sort of compromising position with a three goats, a comely lasses of virtue true, a medicine ball, a bowling hat and 7 riding spurs.
Not only has poor old Katich been passed over as the only credible team leader he has now been dropped from the national side. I feel for the bloke, I really do. It is well known that Katich and Clarke have not always seen eye to eye- example as follows :-
The incident
It is customary for the custodian of the song – currently batsman Michael Hussey – to decide when it is sung following play. It is understood the team came off the field at 6pm and Clarke had asked for the team song to be sung by 11pm, so he could leave the rooms to be with family and model girlfriend Lara Bingle. Hussey did not begin the song until near midnight, after the fight broke out.
News organisations at the time reported that – the pair had to be separated by stunned teammates when Katich grabbed Clarke by the throat during an argument over the singing of the team song.
———
As NSW captain and at an older age to Clarke, Katich probably felt that his seniority and experience would outrank Clarke’s Vice Captaincy. Though his 100% correct demonstration to Clarke showing team loyalty comes before some bit of fluff he is doinking, Katich’s move has ended up looking to be no more than a demonstration of political suicide. Both had denied continuing animosity but it seems plausible to me that this incident has played a major role in Katich’s demise.
To be fair, Katich would have probably have known that Clarke’s golden boy status would mean that his national playing career was in massive trouble the minute the moron was made national captain.
It is a shame and confirms that the only chance Australia had of dragging itself out of the depths is gone. On the plus side there will be some great chances to win cash on Australia losing test match after test match in the next few years. The only silver lining of the story.

Topaz kicks clear. The worst possible result from my $100 offer is currently looking likely for the Notasmartman Tipping Comp with Topaz kicking through to lead at the end of round 13. To be honest I would rather rub Denco Rub on my nether regions than pay Topaz $100 dollars…. perhaps you all could pass the hat around?
Anyway, here is the table.

I am fascinated by the current protests in Australia about global warming *cough cough, sorry “Climate Change”.
In our nation today, 45,000 people, men women and children protested that our Commonwealth government should be laying an extra tax on every single one of us. Their fanciful little theory is that if we all give the government more money CO2 emissions will be reduced which will in-turn retard and even reverse climate change.
I recently read a list of predictions our nations leading climate change expert Professor Tim Flannery reportedly predicted just a couple of years ago.
Last I checked, once ‘Science’ is beyond dispute one would expect projections and predictions as given above would be a little more accurate. Maybe I am being a little tough on the poor bloke, a couple of years into the future might be a little to difficult to predict, perhaps we should give him another chance and also make multi billion dollar decisions based on his long term predictions instead!
I believe it was Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Propaganda Minister who once to the effect said, “The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.”
One thing is certain, there are at least 45,000 people who are demanding that we all have less money so Australia, as a nation can stop climate change…. sorry I believe the preferred marketing term is “effect climate change” … they walk amongst us.
The part I enjoy most about this is that apparently I am the skeptic in this scenario. It is as if I am suddenly a crazy agent Mulder belligerently questioning those that “know”. We will see.
