Dear Mr Bank,
You seem to be a little worried at the moment about the prevalence of criminals using card skimmers at ATM’s (automated teller machines) attempting to steal your clients money. Your are reporting this on the news and emailing out lists of “things to look for” when using ATM’s. You are greatly concerned about the whole situation.
I am sorry, I am a tad confused old chap. You are the ones who made us start using these machines in the first place with your “save you money” sales spiel. You preferred us to use the machine then come in and talk face to face with a person thus losing any control over who was accessing your machines. Then you started charging us for the privilege of getting our money out of one of these machines.
And now you have the audacity to tell us that we need to protect ourselves from these criminals. We need to be vigilant and check for signs that the ATM we are about to use has not been tampered with. We need to look out for cameras, changes to the fascia, holes in the walls or top of the machine, people hanging around and whether you can see the LED’s around the card entry point (if there are no LED’s its bad apparently).
You bunch of dim witted morons, you are the ones who need to protect your machines. How on earth can you idiots expect your customer to wear this crap. We give you our money to hold and protect it, in turn you invest it and earn a return (most of the time) from the money you hold. You used to pay us interest to lend you money but now you don’t. Now you charge us a fee to put money in, a fee to take money out and a fee to check how much money we have in our account. Even if we want the ‘privilege’ of earning interest you force us to move our money from one account to the other and charge us for these transactions also.
I look forward to getting skimmed. I will be suing you for failing to perform the very thing you were created to achieve in the first place PROTECT MY MONEY!!!!!!
Amen brother. Damn banks have to keep coming up with new and inventive ways to take our money and make additional profits. Perhaps you should be over in London at the G20 throwing your considerable weight around? Intellectually speaking ofcourse.
I especially liked the way you had to define what ATM stands for…what else could it stand for? Ideas anyone?
I am for ATMs – if you have been into a branch recently you would understand that automatic tellers outperform the real thing anyday. Plus Mrs Anderson from down the straight cant pull her photos of her 17 grandchildren out and explain which of them plays what sports to the ATM. Well she can if she wants to I guess? But she wont.
Why did ATM get spelled out but LED didn’t?
This sounds awfully like hard hitting journalism straight from Tracey Grimshaw. What’s the next post about?…..which dishwashing liquid is best? or how we’re being ripped off at the petrol pump?
I can’t believe the banks think they can deter thieves with LED’s. The thieves can somehow make a mould that looks like it fits on the ATM and then skim our card details, but when it comes to installing LED’s….they’re baffled??
These banks are the main cause for our current economic woes. The government should never have sold the CBA. Once let into the hands of irresponsible people this is the sort of thing that happens. Had it been under government control then there would have been tighter restraints on them and this probably would not have happend.

BTW, the LEDs are lasers and they can kill the skimmers instantly, everyone knows that.

I’ve done some consulting work for some of the larger australian banks and their business model is very sound. not surprisingly, you losers obviously do not understand the banking system.

4. IASM panics and attempts to convert their username into something insulting in a pathetic attempt to show he maintains some control.

Ok, so lets test my theory:
1. I said something. So far so good….
2. IASM comes in with some sarcasm, but strangley no reference to himself. Half point. Although Rob if you hadnt noticed IASM cleverly congratulated, and insulted you all in one go.
3. IASM – you are a tool. Another point, not exactly fair but I will take it.
4. IASM turns my name into Farteen and Velcro into Crap. So predictable. Another point.
