Drugs and our Olympians

Published by SJ at 4:30 pm under General

I am not accusing anyone, just as our athletes aren’t. But I find it rather annoying that our athletes, while being careful with their comments, are trying to suggest that they may lose events at the Olympics to people who take performance enhancing drugs.

As if it were fact that none of the Australian athletes are on any drugs apparently a lot of the athletes from other countries are.

The actual fact is that none of us know who is on drugs and who isn’t. We don’t even know if ANYONE is on drugs. Until proof is given then all athletes are in the clear. But the way our ‘Aussie battlers’ are talking, pretty much anyone who beats us in an event in which Australia is expected to win must be by suspected.

Fairs fair, if your willing to suspect, you must be willing to be suspected and in no way can accept that our opponents are on drugs but none of our sportsmen are. It defies logic and is one of the stupidest things I have heard recently.

Do we really think we are just more honest than the rest of them?

It’s pretty clear from historical fact that certain countries have been guilty of this far more often than others. So whilst I agree that we shouldn’t just assume that this is something that only other countries’ athletes could possibly be guilty of, you’re naive if you’re suggesting that it’s just as likely an Aussie is a drug cheat as an athlete from any other country.

I’m not sure if I think that we are more honest than all the rest, but it’s a given that we are less likely to have a drug cheat on the team than the vast majority of other countries.

Unfortunately I must agree with you on this one SJ.

Maybe they should just let them all take drugs, imagine the money that would be saved in trying to find the cheats. If they are all cheating it would not matter. As far as I am concerned, if you can not out swim a shark or out run a lion what is the point.

    Welcome back Krusty.
    Your comments have some merit!

I agree with you here. The racist comments the Australian team are making are a disgrace and the PM should step in here and suggest they change there behaviour. We had a national sorry day for a reason and it was to apologise for our racist behaviour. This racist type slander should be discouraged.

If they catch an Australian athlete using performance enhancing drugs, our Olympic team will have an awful amount of egg on their faces. We would have to be one of the most active anti-drug campaigning nations competing at the olympics, and if one of our athletes is caught, the media has every right to go to town with their vilification of our athletes.

Can you bring me up to date with the racist slander our athletes have been guilty of Rob B?
