Emily’s Kitchen Meals = Gold

Has anyone else tried any of the Emily’s Kitchen Ready Meals, available at Woolworths? They are fresh, individual meals (kind of like frozen meals) kept in the fridge section. They are not frozen so don’t bother looking where the frozen microwave meals are. Look near the deli more than likely.
Anyway they are gold. If you are not a fan of the microwave frozen meals these may be a little better for you. They taste a bit more like a normal meal than a frozen one.
There are meals such as
Thai green curry chicken = Good
Butter chicken = TBA
Chicken tikka masala = Good
Pepper steak with potato = TBA
Angus steak in ale with creamy mashed potato = Good
Mushroom risotto = TBA
They do have a shorter use-by date but that is ok if you just keep one or two in the fridge. Especially handy when you are working late and just can’t be arsed going to the effort cooking something when you get home. Assume its got to be better than certain take aways anyways.
Get into Woolworths and pick yourself up a few today!

We have a complete ban on Woolworths, Big W, Dick Smiths, Woolworths Petrol in our household. Anything that is owned by Woolworths is a no go from us. They have a piss poor attitude when it comes to helping disabled children so we don’t spend a cent with them.
Young bloke at work bought one of these in for lunch the other week. Smelt good
No feedback from Iamahomo today.
Will keep an eye out for them but the missus is a good cook so rarely need microwave meals.
Krusty, I’m glad I’ve had a positive influence on your choices. Good job.
Nothin, stop sniffing the young blokes at work you old pervert.
Bent, the only missus you’ve got is in your nightmares you big homo.
That makes no sense Iamadribbler you idiot. ENGLISH muther, Do you speek it?
Bent Dumb Dumb, you have chosen to be a homosexual. Therefore you are repulsed by women. Therefore it is a nightmare for you to have a wife. Understand now dumb dumb?
Krusty, they also have a piss poor attitude to disabled workers even if the disability has nothing to do with being able to do the job, they expect any worker with a disability to apply through one of their disability job agencies first.
They also completely deny they discriminate in the interview stage, but they do!
Very disappointing.
about 2/3 rice and 6 little picese of diced chicken in about 2 tablespoons of sauce..Tasted OK, but SOOOO much rice and hardly anything else…Over priced and disappointing…Never again..Rip Off
What clever marketing from the company itself disguised as a post from a normal consumer.
The meals are pretty average, you’re better off stocking up on the frozen dinners (notice I havent mentioned brand names nor what aisle to find them in).
Ok just tried a New York Style Pepper Steak meal from the emily’s kitchen range
and i was quite surprised it was quite good, even the grilled mushrooms tasted
good and i’m not a big fan of eating mushrooms, Of course i found it over priced
for what you get, BUT then again Healthy Choice meals which i sometimes have
are over priced as well. The Roast meal in the Healthy Choice Range is mostly
vegetables, and the meat is cut so thin it’s like getting a couple of slices of thin
meat from the Deli, and they expect that to be the Roast Meat in there meals.
So I was surprised to find the Pepper Steak in emily’s Product was an Actual
Steak!!! It was Thick and cooked Tender, and not well Done or Burnt. So the
meat on its own would have cost about $3.50 to maybe $5.00 from any supermarket.
So its a thumbs up for that pepper steak, But i don’t like the look of some of there
other meals, Have not seen the Angus Steak meal in the supermarket yet to see
if thats a proper Steak. The only down side is the short use by dates.
So if you like to have a quick meal occasionally maybe give these a try.
Mark
I must say that I have tried these meals and I can’t believe the quality.
Last night my wife and I had some leftover roast chicken and she microwaved a potato bake with bacon with the chicken and some peas. Too easy. Such good quality and she said that it was only less than 5 buck for the potato bake!
She also grabbed a mushroom steak that I hade for lunch today and WOW how easy. I would eat that for lunch everyday as it belts the local for a hot meal. Congratulating to Woolworths (never thought I would say that) these products are fantastic Trying the butter chicken tonight as shes going out so let you know tomorrow.
Peter, I have to say that your taste may not be that of the average Australian! Frozen dinners are tasteles, cardboard imitations of a real meal!. I travel regularly with my work & have to mention probably to your disgust, the new WW brand name, EMILYS KITCHEN: this range offers a fresh range of refridgerated ready meals that certainly outclass any of the frozen meals offered in Australia, mostly it seems buy the American companie, to the fact that some Emiliys Kitchen meals are better than some cafe meals that I have paided a randsom for in Sydney or Melbourne of late!
I travel regularly nationally & internationally, I am dissapointed with the standard of “local restaurants/Cafes” and find the range from WW not only consistant but better than ready meals available in europe and they are avaliable in Darwin, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth! where ever my work takes me in Australia!!(unfortunately not available O/S yet!)
Try the Pepper Steak or Mushroom Steak, the Indian meals in the range are a little lacking in that traditional spicy flavour but much better & more convienient than the local cafe when your hanging for a ‘nice” meal!
Well – I have just enjoyed Emilie’s Kitchen Beef steak and mushroom meal – I added some peas to the supplied carrots – very tender and tasty – a full meal – I will be looking forward to my next Emilie’s meal – sorry – I don’t have a political or personal attitude that prevents me from buying good food from Woolworths and enjoying it, but I can appreciate that .05% of the population will have a genuine complaint against anyone or company or a public service department that has upset them or their family and made them angry – for whatever reason.
That’s life!
However, the sooner Woolworths provide the same scale and range of stock Tesco’s UK have as a % of the Australian population – the better – but it may take them 20 years!
Oh – those wide aisles and range of take away food just make the shopping experience so much better than the “narrow lanes” of Woolworths particularly as land is so much more expensive in the UK than here!
God knows what’s going to happen when I get my “Goffer” – I least in the UK I can get down the aisles!
Cheer Dickie
Just had the butter chicken and rice ………. Piss poor still. Hungry no meat going back to the fridge to see what else I can have. Only three decent pieces of chicken and the rest sauce. Must complain tomorrow
My mum is 78 and lives on her own. She loves these meals and has not had a bad one yet. The Beef Stroganoff was a bit bland but otherwise great. Plenty of meat in all of them. Good on you Woolies.
As a single bloke, with limited cooking skills, and even less desire to cook at 7 PM – I love Emily’s Kitchen meals. Unfortunately the meals I particularly like, the pasta dishes, are seldom available at the Marsfield Woolworths. I’m told by a W employee that it could be 6 months before they are in stock again?? Doesn’t make sense.
I’m having to make do with the Bangers & Mash & Spag Bol meals – both of which I find delicious.
In terms of cost, I find the meals to be good value. I now don’t buy fresh ingredients that lay in the fridge to go off – which is a complete waste of money. In terms of ease – they are brilliant. In terms of taste – I find them to be great.
And no – I’m not an employee of W or EK.
I came upon this site when trying to make direct contact with EK to verify W’s claim re stock outages
LOVE Emily’s Kitchen. I’m vegetarian and have survived on Lean Cuisine for ten years. The choice of vegetarian ready made meals in Australia is atrocious. It’s such a treat to get fresh vegetarian meals that taste great. The mushroom risotto and spinach canneloni are fantastic.
I’ve obviously not tried the full range but I couldn’t be happier with the few that I have.
My mum started buying me Emily’s Kitchen meals. I love their tuna pasta bake, in fact i’m having it for dinner right now. A few of their meals aren’t all that, but they’re alright. Scalloped Potatoes are pretty good, cept i suggest adding some salt and if you’re putting it into a bowl don’t upturn all the sauce into it. Their Bangers and Mash is pretty darn good, not as good as cooking it yourself, but if you’re lazy like me, you really can’t complain. Haven’t tried any others yet. But yeah, I like em.
Are you going to update the list of meals here?
You’re all losers if you’re eating these meals. Work a bit harder to earn enough money to get a private chef like I have done.
Just had the pepper steak today and the other half had the bangers and mash yesterday, both coming up trumps.
@Iamasmartman, Troll much? nah, it’s ok, I understand and I’m sure that one day you will find someone that will love you
Having had the misfortune to purchase the sweet & sour chicken with rice meal, I can report that there is absolutely no resemblance to sweet and sour.
One has to put the question, has anybody there ever tried sweet and sour? on this evidence, I would say not.
Absolute waste of money and deadfull product.
Will not be indulging in ANYTHING that bears the name Emily’s from now on and one must question the buyers from Woolworths judgement in allowing such a poor quality of products to adorn their shelves.
i have tried pepper steak meal .Steak didnt taste right and potatoes are bland.I have also bought mushroom risotto worst risoto ever no favour ot creamy quite fowl an inedible
I had lobster today washed down with a glass of Grange. I had tigers blood for dessert.
Winning!!
I tried my first EK meal (Beef steak and Mushroom) came with mashed potato and carrot. It was really nice to my suprise and tasted like real food. I thought it was good value and the best pre package meal i’ve ever eaten. Wish these meals were available on airplanes. I am keen to try some more. Ps I dont work for W or EK.
Yummo!
I bought emilys lasagne. It was pretty good for a not cooked on your own stuff, after leaving in the fridge for a week.
I have not tried th eothers so cannot comment on the other range of emilys products.
It has been a long time since I bought lasagne from a supermarket as all the packed
lasagne was really turning lousy.
Though the emilys lasagne was quite good, to keep up the standards, a little more
real premium beef and bechamel sauce would be nice.
I wonder how much preservative 202, is added to the lasagne and this is a bit
worrying?!! Could Emilys cut this preservative stuff off andis the amount added just
right so that it would not affect my health. To me this is only concern other than my request to adding more good beef and bechamel sauce.
Am I asking too much? maybe bump up the price a little bit. I have not bought supermarket lasagne for a long time andI thot i should try this emilys lasagne and it turned out OK.
Can you do better?
Just had the misfortune if trying to eat the Emily’s Kitchen lasagne. What an indigestable mess. 2 layers of lasagne sheets surrounded by gloop. I feel ill.
About a month ago I tried the CTM and it may or may have not been chicken. I deeply regret giving them another chance.
If you like this brand you have no concept of what food should taste like.
You losers without personal chefs, go and get a better job so you can afford one. Otherwise you’ll be forced to eat this inferior cuisine all your life.
You can all be like me if you apply yourselves. Remember that!!
I had the pepper steak last night and thought it was THE WORST MICROWAVE MEAL EVER!!! It had absoulutely no flavour whatsover! So called Sour Cream potatoes were bland and undercooked. The steak was tough, chewy and down right unedible!
What a waste of $8.50!!!!!! Do not buy!!!
I had the lamb rogan josh. Not a good experience. Perhaps Emily isn’t known for her curries.
Bought Chicken Pasta (Emily’s Kitchen) – very poor. Gave most of it to the dog.
Just ate a “New York Style Pepper Steak” The chat potatoes were ordinary to say the very least. The pepper/mushroom sauce, while acceptable, could not quite hide the fact that the steak cut, while cut in a roundish shape was unidentifiable and full of gristle, veins and arteries. Never again.
I purchased the Roast Chicken meal the other day & almost had to throw it out it was that bad. There was WAY too much pepper & paprika on the chicken that it actually made me ill.
I’ve grown up in a household where no salt was used at all in cooking as it was not needed so I can’t understand why Woolworths has to put so much salt/pepper into their foods. If people want more, then as far as I’m concerened, that’s their choice & they can add it but if it’s already overloaded you’ve really got nowhere to go.
I dont know who Emily is but the food is excellent!!!! I have tried almost every frozen meal and even tho yours is not frozen it always has flavor and and always more then enough for my belly. Keep up the great food love it!!!!!!
Just sitting down with my wife enjoying an EK prosciutto wrapped chicke with carrots and creamy mash. Overall it is a simple process, shop, microwave enjoy. Very nice food and just enough.
We have tried other dishes, chicken korma, tikka masalla, mushroom sirloin and they have all tasted quite nice. To the dick head that drinks Grange and eats lobster, we can also afford to employ a private chef! You obviously have no idea about managing your wealth!
Steve, I bet you have a big fat wife & a low level job! I shall continue to enjoy my truffles with my model girlfriend.
And by model girlfriend, he means that she came in a box and had to be blown up before use.
Krusty, you are a liar and a stupid twit. She is a bikini model if you must know.
Yeah Crusty don’t lie, you know quite well that Iamasmallman is refering to his mother who still breast feeds him and changes his sheets when he wets the bed. Only a mother could love a poor child like him.
VULGAR PIG!
I tried one of your meals as an impulse buy.
The meal being New York steak with pepper sauce.
I was surprised with the double thick steak and tasty
sauce. My only positive comment would be to eliminate
the sour cream with the potatoes ( didnt taste like sour cream)
and serve the potatoes with a white cheese sauce instead.
Overall, delicous but only as an occasional treat with the price
being $10 from our local Woolies.
Had the New York Pepper Steak with Sour Crem Potatoes and Roasted Mushrooms & Capsicum – OMG YUM!!!! Our local woolies had them for 2 for $17 so grabbed a handfull for hubby and I to try. Stumbled across this site whilst trying to find the Emily’s Kitchen Facebook Page &/or Wesbite.
Will be perfect for nights when hubby and I cant be stuffed cooking. As a big meat eater anda fussy steak critic – have to say its one of the best steaks I have had! Excellent job! Will be buying a stack more! Could live on them twice a day easy!
I just had the sirloin steak with diane, it was the worst tasting thing i have ever eaten, the meat had a strong meat flavour, the ‘roast vegetables’ were still raw, i am still deciding should i try the new york steak. But i doubt i will be getting anymore!
OMG can I start by saying I love that I have found this discussion board.
I work late quite frequently, and there is a stack of Emily’s Kitchen in the freezer for people working late to have dinner.
I can highly recommend the Chicken Tikka and Lamb Rogan Josh meals. Both fantastic. Not a fan of the ones with mash though- the mash always tastes like crap and gives me constipation the next day.
These meals are fantastic – reasonable kilojoules, low sodium – depending on which one you choose – I think they are great quality and the right price. I buy the bigger meals which are about $10 – as another poster said, with a few frozen peas added, I am more than satisfied and so is my husband. We are using them while our kitchen is being renovated and they are better than takeaway and cheaper than any other kind of meal you can get delivered or ready made.
We had the roast chicken last night – a decent 1/4 chicken + wing – and we’ve had the steak versions which contain a good sized piece of meat.
The medium options – butter chicken, etc, pasta – look more like a lunch option to me and I would not expect them to satisfy me for dinner – and they are priced accordingly.
I have to eat 5 of these fukkers to fill me self up.
Emily’s Kitchen products were amazing, especially the Chicken with prociutto(?), the New York Pepper steak and the spag bol…. but it’s changed. The jus has been spiked with flavour enhancers and the spag bol tastes like straight tomato paste with a spoonful of mince. The last one I had was unrecognisable… I think they spilled a container of chilli in it. Once the product became popular it seems the boardroom decided to remove all the quality ingredients that made it good. I don’t buy it any more.
I had a New York Style pepper steak last night and was most dissapointed. In the past the steak has been very good. Last night it was mostly gristle. I wil think twice next time.
Ray.
Home for two( half)days don’t want to cook 2 fresh small meals. So I had the steak and mushroom, good meal, real steak. Happy with the size, but needs some green beans or trees!
# Iamasmartman
cant be a smart man while he brags about the great life he thinks he has.(gets told what a tosser he is acting like) and then argues with others trying to defend himself, hoping for some forgiveness/acceptance!
HAHA! the way i see it you have hired a chef, VERY LARGE MALE CHEF and you enjoy blowing him up and down you stupid lame ass excuse for a human!
These meals are for a quick fix. Like when your away from home and have limited time/kitchen. Without spending the weeks fuel on one meal!
My dad is a chef so I would say that I have pretty high standards when it comes to food, and I cannot get enough of these meals!!! Every one I have had has been delicious, in fact I am eating the steak with mushroom sauce, mash and carrots right now and I can say this would easily make the top 10 best steaks I have ever had! Excellent size steak, cooked well and really tender. My other favourites would be beef angus with mash (beatifully tender meat) and red curry chicken with rice.
These have to be the best pre-cooked meals I have ever had! Nothing like the plastic taste of every frozen meal available. Definitely reccommend Emilys food when your on the run and need a quick meal, way better than most takeaway.
i love your food very nice but my woolies is always out of porter house can i get a link and buy from you
I have stumbled on this forum while googling info on Emily’s Kitchen… I just had a butter chicken meal for lunch at work and was pretty worried at first at what it would taste like. I ended up enjoying it. We have also had black angus lasagne and loved it! I recommed these meals
^ like the above Internet junkie I also found this site on google.
As a night shift worker and lover of all things easy I find it extreemly hard to eat a healthy or even tastey meal while doing shift work.
Massive praise to Woolworths for this range of food I’ll be stocking up on the Butter chicken!! Easy 10/10
Had the new york pepper steak for lunch and I was greatly surprised. It tasted great and I was full at the end of it. It had plenty of flavour and the potatoes were excellent. Steak was a decent size and thickness. I would recommend it highly.
I also googled this site hoping for a full list of emily’s kitchen meals.
So far I’ve tried the:
Butter Chicken = it’s good the first few bites, a bit spicey for my taste. I felt sick after eating it, there’s just too much
Beef Stroganoff = i love this, it’s simple and it doesn’t make me feel like I’ve eaten an entire fridge
Sweet and Sour = i like this one, will try again
Angus with Potato = oh god, the potato is disgusting, it tastes like plastic, will NOT buy again.
Just had the slow cooked pork- VERY DISAPPOINTED at least half of the meat in the meal was chewy disgusting gristle, by the time I finished cutting it all off there was barely any meat left. The meat did have a nice sauce, weird flavor to have with pork (pepper) but still nice. The mash was nice but it came with grated beet root which I found a bit strange, I’d much prefer some carrot or peas.
i just had the salmon in creamy sauce with rice….don’t think i’ve seen it mentioned here (i’m in australia). It was awsome…it cost $9 australian dollars which is expensive for a pre packaged meal but considering how much salmon costs i thought the price was reasonable. I loved it. I did add salt to the sauce but i would prefer under seasoning because it can be adjusted. I loved it and will buy it again. I cook a lot and salmon is one of my favourites but sometimes you just want to heat something up….it’s fresh so i have no probs buying and freezing. LOVED IT
