Back to work for me today but I am straight into it….

A couple of prime examples of why the current crop of Australian cricketers are not quite up to the dizzying heights of the previous 20 years.

Example 1.
Ricky Ponting on what was one of the greenest pitches in recent Australian test history decided to bat first. A 7 year old school grade cricket captain would have sent the Paki’s in to face the music but ‘Punter’ made one of the more stupid Australian Captain decisions to bat on what I instantly recognised as the ‘green top from hell’.

Example 2.
Michael ‘the prodigy’ Clarke once again FAILED when all the pressure was on him to do SOMETHING to save the innings. Yet another prime example of his total lack of heart when the pressure is on. His continual failure when the team crumbles is very disappointing. Statistics do not take pressure situations into account, yet it is the pressure situations in which Clarke ALWAYS fails.

Example 3.
A Declaration with 90 minutes to play. It was always going to be tough to get overs in at the end of the day. And the 15 – 20 runs made in the last 45 minutes of the Australian innings was a simple waste of light! The pitch was doing it all and the Australians had paid the price for there poor decision to bat first. A sure fire way to get themselves back into the match was to have the Paki’s a couple of wickets down at stumps day one. Unfortunately aggressive leadership from our side was lacking as per recent form and only a few overs were available at the end of the day.

Luckily for me, one of the biggest bets I have EVER made (Pakistan to win this test) is looking pretty dam fine at the moment. Please keep Clarke and Ponting in the side as I have never felt better about making over the odds bets in my life.
