Google Street View Panic

Published by SJ at 10:57 am under General

Apparently there are security concerns with the new Google street view recently released in Australia. I don’t really see an issue with this but …..

One collegue suggested that if some one wanted to rob your house they could use street view and the already available satelite view to effectively plan the robbery well in advance, giving them a greater chance of success. I guess I can see this as a valid point. However if someone is looking to rob your house in such detail they are A. going to have access to a reasonable computer set up with broadband and B. know that you have something worth stealing inside your home. I think with most home invasions it is just a quick attempt to get their hands on some cash and not normally a whole planned out production.

Another concern was from Natalie McKenzie of Tarragindi, “I think if they’re taking photos of your home they should ask for permission,” she said. “If a single mum was estranged from her husband there would be an issue there. I’ve got a girlfriend who wouldn’t want her husband to see where she’s living.” (reference news.com.au)

Thank you Natalie, clearly another Rhodes Scholar. Unfortuantely there are only 3 McKenzies listed as residing in the Tarragindi area and none of them list as an N. McKenzie. So it looks like I will have to drive around aimlessly looking for her house or use the new street view function on google to not be able to see her house. Either way Natalie should be very concerned. NIFF!!!!!!!

I laughed so hard when I read the story with the picture of Natalie and her kids in the Courier Mail. She must be very concerned about privacy if she will go to such lengths to advertise herself and children like that. What a NIFFER..

I don’t like this google street view thing. It is not illegal from my understanding but I don’t like the fact the photos of my house are on the internet and I cant do a thing about it.

I assume you are joking when talking about driving around and looking for her house. I hope so.

Why don’t you like your house being on the internet? Are you upset at the people who drive past and look at your house everyday as well?

  4. Rob Bon 06 Aug 2008 at 2:48 pm

I know it seems illogical but I just don’t like it. Would you like photos of your kids or other items posted on the internet without your permission? I guess it just feels like that

Kids I can understand, but it is just a house, like many other houses.

Hey Boring, a photo of your “house” was already on the net……. in the Penrith Caravan Park ad.

  9. iamasmartman.comon 08 Aug 2008 at 5:21 am

I don’t live in a camper, I live in a mansion that you could only dream about!

Amazing what Mum & Dad’s money can buy isn’t it

You’re dreaming IASM. Dreaming about your private jet, BMW, mansion and beautiful 16 year old girlfriend….I’ll bet you wake up stuck to the mattress every morning

  11. Rob Bon 08 Aug 2008 at 9:10 am

Ha ha ha stuck to the matress! haven’t heard that one in years. Velcro is back and he has IASM’s measure.

I’m not supporting IASM here but wouldn’t ‘Velcro’ be more likley to stick to things?

The least they could have done is told me when they were taking it so I could mow the lawn at the very minimum?
I dont want a picture of my house on the internet. Its my house and if it helps any robbers by indicating that I dont have security screens or a fence to climb, then it isnt worth it. About the only real benefit I see is that when house hunting you can view the street and the house from all aspects, therefore quickening your search. What other benefits am I missing here?
PS If you pull up a picture of the bondi intersection in Sydney, you will see a rather cute girl waiting at the lights. Yellow dress. Giddyup.

    Marteeen, nice tip.

So you’re suggesting that the pinhead on youtube is the same person that outpointed you so comprehensively this morning that you’ve got no response IASM??

  17. iamasmartman.comon 08 Aug 2008 at 3:58 pm

Fat One, I know when I’ve been outpointed or even been sledged somewhat cleverly & I am willing to acknowledge those times. I believe I have even given you (& Woodless, Marteeeny & Realbiggutz) the applicable kudos at times. Velcrap’s post is NOT one of those times. I will give you the benefit of the doubt this time that you made your comment with the sole intentionm to deliberately rile me…if so… give yourself a clap….mission accomplished!!
HOWEVER if you seriously believe the juvenile “stuck to the mattress” comment has outpointed me then you are no better than Velcrap & his brother Rob Boring!!

    No dipshit, that wasn’t me.

I found your video blog too…..

Velcrap, your pitiful attempt to retaliate for my on-line destruction of you was to resort to your traditional racist homophobic stylings! Well done. How unpredictable! Invariably the bigamists amongst your audience will find it humorous. Lets see who they are?
You did win a small battle this time though….. I have just had to spend the last 20 minutes explaining to my girlfriend why I was searching for Gay Asians on-line.

  20. iamasmartman.comon 08 Aug 2008 at 9:49 pm

I’m waiting to hear from any bigots or bigamists out there…..show yourselves in support of fat loser friend!

  21. Fat Simonon 10 Aug 2008 at 11:56 am

Why would someone with multiple wives (or husbands) be so interested in your love for gay porn IASM? Perhaps you should stick to words of one syllable from now on champ.

And why is it racist that Velcro used a link to an asian video rather than one featuring white guys? Does that make you a racist for asking if that dumb white guy was him?

  22. iamasmartman.comon 10 Aug 2008 at 1:11 pm

Welcome bigot #1! I thought it may be you.
Are you seriously that stupid to not understand the bigamy point? Did you even listen to entire video? If so you may have understood the reference. I say “may” because you are an idiot & whilst it may be obvious to intelligent listeners it will not likely be obvious to you!
