Iranian Elections 2009

I am interested at the current world buzz around the Iranian National Elections and the apparent lack of interest by almost all Australian commercial media outlets.

The words #Iranelections, Iranians, Tehran and Ahmadinejad currently feature in the top 10 of Twitters trending topics and almost all world news outlets are reporting around the clock on these elections.

Why?

Why do the rest of the world car so much about this event?

Is it the threat of Nuclear proliferation if the current leadership is left in charge?
Is it the threat to world oil supplies that may be restricted under current leadership or,
Is it that the current leadership of this nation do not see eye to eye with the rest of us and they therefore must be corrupt?

I believe it may be a combination of all three with the last question being the dominating rationale. And again why?

Why is it that when someone or some-country has such an opposite fundamental belief on so many basic social, political and economic principals that we consider them to be evil and untrustworthy to the brink of war?

Oh and why does this barley get a mention in Australia? Well ,if you hadn’t already heard old mate Tuppence got whacked…. Off you go mate, have a nice trip mate.

You are finally asking the right questions. Instead of being a racist you and empathising with people different from you. If only the rest of you could behave this way.

Thats an interesting fact that those countries are in the top 10 twitters…. would never have guessed that. I think I would have put Rowboata infront of Tehran.

@notasmartman You’ll all be pleased to hear that your favourite website is also now available on twitter. http://www.twitter.com/notasmartman

I think that Iran is a in the spotlight because they are against us. They want Israel gone and the rest of us to live like them!
