Just one man
The time for a change is upon us and much celebration is occurring. I am just not sure how Obama is going to do it. I am not saying he can’t do it, a big part of it will be figuring out exactly what “it” is, but it appears to be one heck of a task.
I am also unsure where all this faith that Obama can change things so much for the better comes from. He is just one man. As far as I can tell, he has not been up to Mount Rushmore and channelled those blokes so he is pretty much a n00b in the same situation as the presidents who came before him.
The first problem I see is that the US is in so much debt it is not funny. At 10.5 trillion dollars every man women and child owes a staggering $34,500 dollars to the rest of us. If this change is going to occur it is going to have to be the cheapest dam “change” in history, or their debt levels will get even higher. I suspect if this happens it will definitely result in a change but not necessarily for the better.
He doesn’t seem to be starting out on the right track in the money stakes with his inauguration costs blowing out to the vicinity of $170 million, which dwarfs Bush’s last inauguration by a factor of 4. Sure, it is important to come to the office with a sense of substance but come on. I guess a lot of this will be increased security costs much of which are a result of changes in the world over the last few years, but man that is a lot of cash
It is one tough job he has gone and got himself. Credit to him for putting his hand up but its time for the party to end and the hard work to start.

The atmosphere here in Washington is unbelievable!!!! I have never seen anything like it. It is a very different feel from the Bush inauguration. I have even forgiven the secret service for working me over due to my association with the white supremists on this site. The only problem now is that is FREEZING cold.
I’m here in Washington too. And after meeting with Obama prior to the ceremony he outlined his plan to me…………………he’s going to start with removing all wankers from the internet………….sorry IASM…….your gonski.
Forget where’s Wally lets start a new game “where’s Iamagayboy.com”
Where will he turn up next….. S.J. can we get a prize going for this you can put up that t-shirt I won and you never sent.
Will he make it back from the superbowl in time for the tennis finals and his date with Anna, and still make it to the Australian of the year presentation to accept his award?
Thank God that the Alan Border Medal Presentation Dinner is still months away I would hate him to miss the chance to influence the outcome of that award.
I’m not willing to offer better than 2:1 on that he can make it to all the events mentioned above.
This is a great day for the human race. So what if his inauguration costs a bit more that the last one? It is truly a day the world will reflect on in the many years to come so I think it was worth spending a bit more and doing it very well.
This is easerly the most annoying news I have heard for a while. Its all ove the news papers tv and I even seen the radios are goin nuts about it. It is not that important is it.
Woody (in case you didn’t get the email),
Its funny you mention that on the page today as I spent an hour or two looking for that shirt on the weekend…… I have to conclude
I have lost the shirt.
I put it aside ages ago when I was first talking about it and now cannot locate it…… it has been weighing on my mind so I owe you something!
I will see what I can come up with for you
SJ

Woody,
Iamacompleteliar.com will be accepting not only Australian of the Year but Young Australian of the Yaer. The first person ever to claim such a feat.
Jethro makes me laugh every time.
Champ, the chickens in IASM’s hot box can spell better than you! How ironik if i had a spelling mistake in my post
I’M BACK GUYS!!!
By the way don’t let the green-eyed monster eat you up.
It is tradition for the outgoing president to leave a letter on the desk of the oval office for the new president. It was probably an apology for stuffing up the world. Well done “W”.
All they have is hope. What more do you have when you are forced to walk away from your house/car/belongings and live in a slum like many of them are doing?
