Off I go
Today I am off to Melbourne for a 2 day training course, Yes! It takes 1 hour to drive to the airport, well at 7:00am in the morning it does. I have to line up to check baggage, in Brisbane airport that’s another hour. Its then two and a half hours of action packed excitement on the plane. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it. Then you can enjoy the wait as baggage handlers take great delight in tossing your belongings all over the shop getting your gear onto the carousel. Then it’s off to a cab for another ‘dangerous’ journey.
I find it interesting there is so much business travel that goes on in this country. I reckon a large percentage of these hours wasted waiting for and flying in planes could be easily avoided by telephone calls, video conferences and email. You have some national manager who is getting paid $250,000.00 a year and he spends a large chunk of his working week flying around in planes cut off from his staff. I doubt they enjoy it and I just am not sure it is all that necessary.
Am I completely of base here or is this corporate travel culture a necessary requirement and I am the ‘notasmartman’ of the day?
Will report in tomorrow morning from sunny Melbourne.

You need a wireless card shirvy.
Its a difficult one but travel is definatley a necessary evil. You have got to press the flesh if you want to build relationships.
