Play Station 3 Ramblings
I recently purchased a Play Station 3. I gotto tell you, a big improvement is the wireless controllers good work Sony.
The other thing you can do is set the unit up to connect to your wireless internet router which is good darts too. This was a bit of a muck around however and I found that I had to set the PS3 up as a DMZ (de militarised zone?) which isn’t awesome but I managed to get it working. I also had to turn off the MAC Address filtering protection from my router, which also isn’t the best. If anyone out there knows how to find the PS3’s MAC Address I will be happy to hear it.
Games I have purchased are (should keep me busy for ages)
Grand Theft Auto 4
Pretty good so far, I like shooting random innocent people. Is that wrong? I am finding it hard to resist this activity, especially when you brush past someone in the street and they give you attitude, I like to pull out the knife or pistol and give them a pizzling.
Grand Turismo 5
I have like all of this franchise. Still getting the hang of it. I gave the on-line racing a try on Saturday and it was ok. Not sure if you can choose to race friends at this point but hopefully this feature exists
Fight Night 3
The controls are all different from PS1 days, so still figuring it out. I have managed to knock all my opponents down but seem to lose the fights via TKO which is confusing if you have not been knocked down yourself.
NHL 2008
Again all different controls so getting used to it. The fights between players who have a bit of niggle is cool. As I write this I realise that the last Ice Hockey game I purchased was NHL breakaway 98 for the PS1 so this marks a ten year upgrade, not bad really.
Virtual Fighter 5
Got dominated by a friend first game. Is at bottom of shelf gathering dust until a worse player challenges me. Are any of you guys computer game gumbies?
Mac address is found when you go across the XMB and go to system settings. the mac is listed in this section under System information.
Obviously you will need to go into the router settings and include that mac address in the exemptions.
A few Games that i have “Clocked” are:
Resistance Fall of Man. this was a release game for the system and online interaction is remarkable. Get yourself a blue tooth headset and connection to playing online etc is a breeze. Resistance Fall of man 2 is coming soon
Call of duty 3 last call of duty in the old format of WW2, is a good challenging game and has very good graphics component. Not a great online user experience.
Best of the lot is
Call of Duty 4. This is in iraq and current day. Massive online community playing this game and always easy to find heaps of Australian gaimng rooms. This is a great game with sensational graphics. Will require an upgrade to the system to allow for initial game play.
Colin Mcrae–DIRT, very good rally simulation and is testing for all levels.
Guitar Hero 3, wonderful game concept best used drunk and to include the children.
Singstar, same as above, best to pull this one out either drunk or when the Mrs claims your always on the system. Its a family system, 2 songs by any child will ensure the system is seen as “Family time”.
Army of 2. Pretty good game with very good graphics, uses 2 men to attack and you switch between players or order one man to take all the heat while you sneak about like a Moorey.
GTA4. Apparently good game, lots of wholesome family time with this one. Language to enable all the kiddies to easily integrate with the “Niggas”.
Warhawk. this one i just have not been able to rate. My Son “HAD TO HAVE IT” and downloaded it off the store. It has been left there on the system ever since.
The Godfather–The don’s edition. Best described as like GTA with the ability to grow your MOB team and teams of killers etc.
Kiddies like this one again.
Burn out Paradise. Drive around smashing stuff etc etc not bad but can be a little boring after destroying everyone. Does incorporate the EYE TOY to take pictures of you when you are smashed etc.
FEAR……Went back in 2 days, just couldn’t get into it.
Fomula 1. Great for making the glasses rumble in the cupboards as you pass other cars etc. Graphics best judged when you over take in the wet and the increase in speed determines the visibility through your visor. Got to be seen to believe.
Motorstorm, Release game. No time for it.
Gran Turismo HD 2.0 Can’t complain free to download on the playstation store in full version. Just not speedy enough for me. If you want to get on the world number one rankings quick play this and set up the track to be rac ed opposite to the normal direction listed.
Heavenly sword. Hot redheaded sword handling chick, crap game.
Harry Potter. Kiddies love it, Go find something else to do if you have to watch them play it. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzZZZ!!!
Medal of Honour. As usual great franchise game, difficult to play online. Serveres may be fixed now. At time of release very difficult to navigate.
Dear Rat Warne, rave on in as much detail about a single topic again & your posts shall be dealt with in the manner of a Velcrap post!!! (Nobody reads them.) All you have successfully achieved by this PS3 obsessed ranting is to highlight the fact that you are probably an old man who should have more important things to do with his time you bevan loser!!
