Rugby League WC

Published by SJ at 4:27 am under General

I watched in a quiet acceptance Saturday night as a fiery New Zealand side soundly beat Australia in the world cup final. It was good for the game of Rugby League that another team has finally won this tournament. It possibly could have been better if Great Britain had won but I can accept New Zealand also. The only bad thing for me personally was that many of the evenings loaded up multi sports bets.

The Haka at the start with the Australian team walking up to face off with the Kiwis was ‘hair standing one end’ type stuff for me and something that I hope is accepted and continues respectfully in the future.

I was most disappointed to hear reports that Australian coach was somehow unhappy with the referee’s and other officials and thinks that there may have been some bias towards the opposition. Come on Ricky, you annoy the shite out of me most of the time and I think you should very quietly disappear back to the shire and concentrate on helping the Sharks win a few games next year. Leave the big game coaching up to the big game coaches.

Its funny, to of the biggest sooks in Australian sport at the moment have the name Ricky…..

The other thing that seemed a bit wrong out of the whole shooting match was watching Wayne Bennet celebrate so happily with the Kiwi’s. Yes, I know he knowingly took a job to beat his own country but it just seemed so strange having had him on my side for so long and seem him against me Saturday night. I guess I best get used to it.

One thing is for sure, the Anzac day test next year WILL be a complete annihilation of New Zealand, you can put your house on that.

Was great for NZ to win. Big effort and great result.

Don’t be to sure about Anzac day though, they have the taste of victory now so it might be harder than you think.

    Who cares…?
Stupid sport. Get rid of it and send the athletes from league to union. At least together they will be able to compete with AFL and Football.

Rob Baffoon loves to get the first comment in to give himself the best chance of being heard but champ, I think we all sub-consciously skip your useless comments. SJ is right, the ANZAC test will be a match that will be very well-prepared for by the Australians. They won’t give anybody the satisfaction of saying that NZ is the No. 1 Rugby League nation.

I think for the Anzac test we might want to re think the way we react to the Haka.

Anyone that disses the Haka pays the price.

Being indigenous myself I know for a fact that you never want to upset the spirits of your competitors fore fathers….

I’m 75% maori and was pleased to see the Kiwis win Bro.

What was the story behind Anna Bligh’s tshirt & jeans to present the world cup? Surely she could have at least dressed it up a little with a boob tube and thongs.

Interestingly I find Wayne Bennett far more likeable as a Kiwi than he was as a Bronco.

Since when does defending yourself against criticism make you a sook? I can understand how criticism of your captaincy from a bloke who’s nickname was Captain Grumpy would annoy a person.
