Super what now
When did it become the super 14?
After a look on the trusty website Wikipedia it seems that this major change occurred in about 2006 which interestingly occurs at about the same time I last gave a crap about super 14 or rugby union for that matter.
For some reason on Saturday night the pub I was at were showing a super 14 game on the big screen. I say for some reason, as there were absolutely zero people watching it. I take much satisfaction from the fact that rugby union is dying a natural death in this country for one simple reason, it is freaking boring. More satisfying is that I have been spruiking this fact for a number of years.
Given the choice of watching the Queensland Reds play the Auckland Blues and the Queensland Firbirds play the Northern Mystics in a hotly contested game of netball I would choose the fire birds every single time. Yes I am suggesting that netball is a far more entertaining sport than rugby union.
And I finish todays belated rant with the following. If you like rugby union as a sport you have a major problem. It seems your wife has removed your testicles in your sleep, put them in her hand bag and supplemented your viagra pills with estrogen.
I have been away for work but am back on deck this week. If you need help with locating your testicles let me know.

The competition has been called the super 14(and super 12 before that) for as long as I can remember. I think it had something to do with it being a step up from the national comps in NZ and S Africa.
The ARU for some strange reason based on $ decided to can our national competition after 1 year. Which I believe is why our teams struggle so much in the super 14, as there is no development opportunity.
People like to see their team win, and the reds have been bottom feeders for ages now. The crowds will come once the team starts to win. Look what a few premierships did for the Brisbane Lions and AFL in qld.
Rugby is far from dead though. I don’t particularly enjoy watching rugby on tv, but it’s hard to beat seeing a big game live. Go and watch any wallaby game and see how full the stadium is. The wallabies draw a crowd in any country in the world. The atmosphere is incredible too, regardless of the result.
No never been a big sport here in SA. When the wallabies play it gets a bit of attention but most of the time it is not really followed. In all seriousness you are right, it is fairly boring when I actually do try and watch it.
Went to the Rugby in Sydney a few years ago to watch Australian play. Spent most of my time buying beers to keep the boredom from killing me. Never again!
