The Warner Experiment

Published by SJ at 10:48 pm under General

We have seen a new low in Australian cricket. The promotion of David Warner to opener for the first 20/20 international was an experiment that unfortunately produced a positive result.

I say positive because Warner fluked a huge score with some sensational batting.

I say unfortunately because he is destined to end up one of the scrap heap of Australian cricket. Along with the Australia V Australia A one day final series we had a few years ago the Warner experiment is indeed that bad.

How can it be that some young fella, who has never played a game of first class cricket, can be expected to open the batting for his country? The 20/20 game was a bit of a hit and giggle with no real pressure but the 50 over game requires a little more than the bludgeon theory. You are expected to bat long hard and graft out an innings and all of these things were missing when Warner came in to bat against South Africa on Sunday.

It is now clear to me why it was 132 years since the last player without any first class experience played for Australia. It is also clear to me that the Australian selectors are an absolute joke and should be removed immediately. It could be a long road back for Warner after this but if he makes it back he will truly deserve it.

On the positive side that niff Clarke is out!! The sparrow hearted one has a sore thumb and can’t front up for the rest of the series… you ok mate?

In other news I have had $6 on the Arizona Cardinals to win the Super Bowl, the Broncos to win the 2009 NRL premiership and the Western Bulldogs to win the 2009 AFL premiership at the tidy odds of 760.5 to 1.

Here is hoping!

SJ, explain this to me you moron; why is the 50 over game so different from the 20/20 game? Warner’s role is to score a lot of runs quickly in both forms of the game. Don’t add complexity that isn’t there you uneducated uncoached nobody! “…….The 20/20 game was a bit of a hit and giggle with no real pressure but the 50 over game requires a little more than the bludgeon theory……” What a ridiculous statement!! Failure (or success) is the same for an opener in both forms. Would a century off 50 balls & then getting out be a dismal failure in a 50 over game??? Stop making statements that have no substance!
By the way, I’m very much looking forward to the superbowl even though our seats aren’t the best unfortunately.

I must say that I agree with you here. As much as it was fun I just don’t think it is fair to all the other qualified players to miss out to a player who hasn’t yet paid his dues.

SJ, You are right on here Warner = flash in the pan. He should go to India for IPL now he has a name and cash in ASAP.

IASM, is cricket your area of expertise, really, thought table tennis might be more down your alley.

Bloody hell get off Warners back will ya. Its not his fault he was selected and I am sure he is doing the best he can. I wouldn’t be so quick to count him out champ.

    Iamalittleman,

Your statement that “Failure (or success) is the same for an opener in both forms.” shows how stupid you really are.

If you get out for a duck in the first over of a 50 over game your team is put straight under pressure having to cover your slack for the remaining 49 overs. If you get out in the first over of a 20/20 they only have to cover 19 overs. Pretty big difference you half sized half wit.

    Trent,

I appreciate it is not his fault but that does not mean it should not have happened. I am not on his back as I said “if he makes it back he will truly deserve it.”

    I hope he can.

SJ ( Stupid Jerk), You are truly one of the dumb ones!In a 50 over game they have 49 overs to recover from the setback as opposed to 19 you IDIOT! The Jim Beam has killed off more of your limited brain cells lately I see!! Your arguments are similar to the Fat Ones or Wifeless… when challenged they collapse as easily as your parents hopes that you would be the one to break the bevan cycle within the blood line.

    Iamalittleman,

To reiterate your little theory in essence you are stating that.

A team has the same chance at getting bowled out in 20 overs as it does in getting bowled out in 50 overs?

You are one of the stupidest life forms I have ever come across and that includes moss!

Just be quiet now little one.

Stupid Jerk, you have no logical sense as usual. You are a moron! All things being equal, there is a greater chance of getting bowled out in 50 overs. However Dumb Dumb, your pitiful little brain seems unable to comprehend the fact that, conversely, there is a greater chance of the batting side recovering & scoring runs in 50 overs. OMG you are stupid!!!
