Traffic Niffs
I did a little driving yesterday, nothing new there but I came across a few things that I don’t understand.
Example 1
Driving along a road that is normally posted at 100 km/h. Due to current road works the new spead is 80 km/h. I set the cruise control to 83 and sat back to cruise along. As I did (in the left lane of course) I was duly swamped by every car, truck, van and motorbike in the city. Clearly these people were speeding in the vicinity of 15 – 20 km over the limit without thought or concern about it.
Yet when the bastard gets back up to 100 km/h I am forced to pass every niff under the sun who will not drive at the speed limit. Why do people think its ok to speed in one area and not do the limit in another? It boggles my mind, especially when I am forced to endure these intellectual pee wees.
Example 2
Driving down a 60 km/h a single lane road, in a residential area, I was sitting just on 60 km/h when I notice some sort of white van flying up behind me. As I drove along this niff is clearly trying to get by me so I follow my line and maintain speed. Eventually a push bike lane opens up and he decides to pass me on the left. He then proceeds to drive around the following round-about at about 15 km/h and sticks his hand out the window to give me the bird for good measure.
I am not sure why I should receive such treatment? After all, its Christmas and those boys in blue are out everywhere. If you have an overpowering need to drive like a lunatic then I suggest you fire up the old Playstation or Xbox and stick to fantasy. Otherwise I will stick the nose of my car up your arse, roll your piece of shit van over, jump out a strike down upon you with great vengeance and furious anger!

I lost a good mate of mine last week in a car crash. I don’t think I’ll ever understand why people drive with complete disregard for themselves and others on the road. No amount of government advertising will ever stop it….it looks like it’s a part of our culture to drive like Schumacher.
I tend to think the lucky ones die, the unlucky ones are left with spinal injuries and spend the rest of their life in a wheelchair.
My mate’s name was Craig and he was the nicest guy you could hope to meet. His funeral was today.
Road works can be a pain in the behind sometimes but you have to follow the speed limits or risk injury to these road workers. I reckon it would be a bloody dangerous job at times.

It seems to me speeding is socially acceptable. Which annoys you more? Which do you try to avoid more?
* 10kph over
* The speed limit, but in the right hand lane.
Disclaimer: I am driving miss daisy.
