TV Trickery
I am starting to get the splatters with our tricky free to air TV operators. They bring “all new episodes” back of your favourite TV show and play it for 2 or 3 weeks. They keep advertising it in the same manner but drop the “all” from the voice over and BANG! You find yourself halfway through an episode and you finally figure out why you have seen every single joke coming from a mile away. Because you have been tricked.
We all only have limited hours to devote to those few select shows that you want to watch. You plan a half hour free block from family, work or study to enjoy some “all new” programming. Instead you are slapped in the face like some sort of ungrateful child.
How dare they! How dare they provide me free entertainment and change the manner in which they provide it as if it were their choice! Hmmmmm I think I have just answered my own question.
But seriously, most TV shows of today’s era include long over lapping story arcs and although the story line is different each week there are quite often things to be aware of from week to week. You don’t see the bastards re-running old episodes of Neighbors or Home and Away in prime time. Why do it with other shows?

How is that new digital LCD screen going? You are lucky, at least you get the different content on the HD channels unlike us poor regional people. Southern Cross, Prime and Win are all hopeless. I have stopped watching Prime untill the Olympics have finished. Rant over.
I find FoxtelIQ is a satisfactory solution.
PayTV what a waste of money.
I am frustrated by this also. Not sure there is much we can do about it.
What exactly does FoxtelIQ do to solve the problem IASM. If the show is a repeat you have still recorded a repeat……..?
foxtel is still standard def….why pay money for a substandard product???
SJ, What the TV networks are implementing is a very successful strategy. Whether it’s misleading or not is of course debatable. Their promotion of new episodes peaks your interest. They can later screen less expensive repeats & a share of the audience will continue to view them. Krusty, is pay tv a waste of money if it gives me enjoyment that I am willing to pay for? Rob Boring, the program guides indicate whether a program is a repeat or not. Maybe SJ & yourself are slightly illiterate. This would indeed explain some of your comments. Velcrap, maybe Foxtel is only SD through your illegal “hook-up” at the caravan park but here in Sydney we have a thing called FOXTEL HD …you IDIOT!!! see info below;
“FOXTEL HD+ has the widest choice of High Definition programming with five dedicated 24/7 HD channels featuring some of the biggest subscription television brands – BBC HD, Discovery HD, National Geographic Channel HD, FOX SPORTS HD and ESPN HD. Plus, Australian television premiere blockbuster movies available immediately when you want them through the FOXTEL BOX OFFICE HD On Demand service.”
Do you work for Foxtel IASM? you are a walking advertisement for them.
I am not employed by them at present. I have provided a management consultancy service for them in the past. I am comfortable disclosing this point.
5 out of how many channels are HD???? It’s a half assed effort by fox at HD
Ha ha ha you admit a managment consulting service to Foxtel. Yes that is likely. Keep the lies coming please IASM, you make me laugh more and more each day.
Boring, I laugh at YOU! You find it so difficult to comprehend that myself; a young, educated, intelligent person can achieve such career & financial success. What is your occupation?
Hey mate I am not the person who is telling everyone that he is 20 and in the next breath trying to claim managment consultation work with a company like Foxtel. You are a liar.
FYI my occupation is a personal consultant to the CEO of BHP. I also do some after hours work as a hitman for the carlton crew.
How does it go?… 3 2 1 stop the lies, you look like an idiot.
Boring, please put your dancing shoes on. I do not like to be called a liar, particularly by a PA who thinks just because he puts appointments into an executives diary that he understands business! You have no concept of what forms of consultancy services an organisation like foxtel engages.
It must be like Hasbro engaging the consulting services of 3 year olds to test and provide feedback on their products.
ha ha ha Krusty. IASM would no all about that more likely
Good one Krusty!
Nothing as usual from you Rob Boring!
