WTF Channel 9
What the hell is Ladette to Lady??!! I saw two minutes of this show as I waited for the Sarah Connor Chronicles to start last night and I am left perplexed with how a show like this is on television.
A bunch of women sitting around and bitching at each other about how to try and be ‘ladies’. A major upset for the madams was when one of the ladettes got into a car with her bottom sticking out as she bent over…. That’s called advertising where I come from.
So to get this straight, a bunch of pompous old English nags trying to reshape the so called unsuitable lives of some other younger English nags is a show that rates better than the Sarah Connor Chronicles forcing it back one hour. Well I am sorry I don’t believe it.
In case you were not aware, television shows are measured on their success buy a group called OzTAM. My understanding is that at any one time OzTAM employ 5000 television watchers to report back to them on exactly what they are watching. This information is then fed back to the television networks who base their decision on what is successful or not on these results. Altering their broadcast shows based on these figures.
5000 people!!!! Surely the 5000 wetbags (if you are one of the current 5000 I am sure you personally are doing ok, it’s the other 4999 that are morons!) that have had the job for the last 5 years are close to being recycled?
Does 5000 points of view give you suitable, credible information on something as complex as a persons preferred form of entertainment? I personally am not sure that it does, but I am sure all you statistical superiors out there will try and tell me otherwise.
Here is one piece of market feedback for you OzTAM…. You suck! You and your whole lazy work ethic!
However OzTAM did get the part right about putting Gordon Ramsay on first, and it’s on twice a week. I love that show and the way he gets stuck into people then is bewildered that they flair up back at him. Catches him by surprise every time!
Whether 5000 is an appropriate survey number to draw from…..well, how long is a piece of string. Maybe they should survey X% of their total audience. And what is the audience here? Every person in Aust? Every household in Aust? or every TV in Aust? who knows!
I’m glad i’m not one of the 5000, would hate to report everything i watch on tv. could be some unusual shows suddenly making prime time
OzTam distribute their boxes in a weighted fashion across demographics that are representative of the total popultion.
Decisons on billions of dollars of advertising spend are made based on these rating so I think someone might have raised it with them if it was a unrepresentative sample.
I agree with Tiger. Rest assured OzTam do an excellent job of market reporting for this industry. If you want to blame anyone you should blame yourself.
SJ, I think you under estimate the TV networks. That show is on before the Sarah Connor show because they are trying to leverage those people staying up to watch sci-fi crap.
It’s the same reason/logic as why the milk is at the back of the shop chief.
By that logic Tiger the channel 9 sunday news (the most watched show of any given week) would be on at 11 o’clock at night.
The highest rated shows are on in prime time and 9 must believe that this ladetts to ladies show is going to rate better than terminators. They will give it a go and if it doesn’t rate will move something else there.
I am more confused about the Gordon Ramsay show. I like it but I thought you could not have a show on with that much swearing before 9:30 pm. its eems prety harsh language for 8:30 at night when grandpas and grannies are still up and aobut making cups of tea.
